Uniti Volume Lights are an off white colour

Posted by: Anavrin on 01 July 2018

Just a quick one guys, the indicator lights in the middle of my Uniti Star volume knob are not the same colour as the light ring around the base of the control.

Ive got two Muso’s and on both of them the volume indicator lights on the top are the same shade of white as the light ring around the base of the knob.

On my Star the light ring is the normal “cool” white but the volume indicators on the top are a “warm” white and do not match, is this normal?

Anavrin, it's very hard to tell from the desription.  Are you saying  it has changed since you received it?  What does your dealer think and how does it compare to their demo unit?

I haven’t seen another in since I got mine, I was actually at Acoustica in Chester last week getting a Phono Stage, they have the entire Uniti range available for Demo, along with countless other Naim boxes that probably cost more than my house lol, but I didn’t think to ask while I was there.

Its something I noticed straight out of the box from first power on, the volume indicator lights are more yellow than the ring of light around the base of the control, on my two muso’s they’re the same colour, if I figure out how to post images here, I’ll take a picture.

Now that you mention it, there is a slight difference on my Atom, although it's hard to see it on an iPhone photo. I hadn't noticed it before, as my Atom is tucked away in a corner where I hardly see it, and I only really interact with it through the app so it's not really an issue for me. Perhaps worth mentioning it to Naim, though, especially if there is variation between different products.

Maybe I'm just not that fussy, though - I had an olive pre/power amp for 15 years and the green light on the power amp was much brighter than the one on the pre, but I just lived with it!

On the one hand sounds rather trivial, but I can understand it might be annoying on a premium product - get your dealer to check it out.

I seem to recall the green light on my second NAP 250 when I went active was brighter than the older one, but I just chose to ignore it - you do notice these things however when they're in a rack in a darkened room.

I’ve got a feeling, they’re all like this, don’t need a dealer, just a few guys to feedback if theirs are the same, It just seems a bit odd because the older muso’s are fine.

Just to add a "me too" response. My Nova's with Naim at the moment so I can't check that, but I've got a loan unit and that does have lights as you describe - a "blue" white ring with more yellowish white for the segments on the volume control.

I've just checked mine, and yes my Nova (from October last year) has the white outer ring with off-white segments on the volume knob, while the Qb I checked seems to have the same "pure" white on the volume knob as well.

My Nova is the same but I'm not bothered in the slightest - if anything, the bright white is a touch garish.
