Yes, a hearty congratulations for Roy from NY.    Hard to believe that so much time has passed since JV first set the whole Naim culture of musicality in motion.    So many people all around the world are enjoying their music more at home than they might have otherwise have been able to thanks to the tireless work of all of the people at Naim over the decades.

Roy was the keeper of the Naim sound.... who will do this most important job now at Naim ?

Don't worry Analog, Naim's big asset has always been that R&D is not just about one person, it's a team effort and Naim's knowledge bank is shared within the walls of R&D.  For some time now engineers such as Gary Crocker, Steve Sells and a number of others have been steeping themselves in all that is "Naim" so that should the day arrive when Roy isn't around, then Naim continues. Oh, and judging from my chat with Roy last friday at Dinner, I don't think retirement means that Roy is turning his back on Naim for good, just that he can work his own hours and projects as he pleases.  Just before we parted, I wished Roy all the best on his retirement.  He smiled and said it might give him an opportunity to to dust off his LP12 and listen to his old records, but would back in the factory on Monday...

Perhaps Gandalf may step into the breach now he's no longer busy with the one ring.

I'm hoping Roy becomes a kind of emeritus professor of Naimology, and from Richard's words above, that more or less looks like it.

If you are reading this Roy, thank you for the pleasure you have given.

Richard did Naim record the Rick Wakeman gig for Roy or was it a private affair, as I saw a support act video on Facebook?

It was a great surprise when Rick Wakeman appeared as the evening's special guest.  At first I don't think anyone could quite believe it - least of all Roy!  Rick combined witty repartee with his renowned keyboard skills to entertain everyone. No idea if it was recorded or not.  I did get to chat with him afterwards though - nice guy!

Shame nothing official was posted on the forum, looks a great send off.

Just realized Roy signed off my replacement Nova a week ago , do think of him and smile when i listen to it.

I doubt anyone really retires from Naim

Roy is one of the legendary engineers of British Hi End Audio.

Thank you very much Roy for your contributions to musical enjoyment and for great Naim products and wish you happy days ahead.

Roy is an absolute legend. The SBL, CD555 and the SL2 have given me the most incredible musical pleasure over the last couple of decades. Roy, you're an absolute treasure and such a clever guy.
