No sound from NAP300 after move

Posted by: LanceC on 04 July 2018

Hello All

I have no sound from my system since I moved it from one room to another while the decorators are in.

My system is an Sony SACD/NDX source -> NAC282 -> Flatcap 2 -> NAP300 -> PMC 20.24 (I know the flatcap is a strange choice and it is soon to be replaced!)

If I turn the volume up high, I can hear a little sound if I put my head close to the speaker, so something is passing through the NAP300, but very very little.

I have swapped out the NAP300 for another spare amp I have to prove that the signal from the Flapcap to the 300 is good, and that the speakers are working, so I am sure that the 300 is the issue.

Given that the Amp itself is a dual mono, and I have the same issue on both channels, I am thinking it is more likely to be a power supply problem. The green logos do light, and I do get a thud from the speakers when I power off.

I have also read about faulty power buttons. I am turning on with a single hard push of the power on the NAP300PS.

So, I am quote lost!

Anyone any ideas?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Have you got CH1 and CH2 XLR leads swapped between Flatcap and 300 ?

I know we have only just met, but I love you James. Yes, that was it

I have been scratching my head for 2 days on this and thinking the worst!

Many thanks

exactly. Turn off NAP300, swap XLR's. Most common user error with that amp.

Yep. Been there, got no sound. Glad you got it sorted.

Now get a Supercap for that 282

I do love a happy ending.

Yep, made that mistake myself too. Call to my dealer got it corrected in minutes. Glad you got it sorted. I now use little notes on the cables when breaking down the system to make rebuilding idiot proof!

Another one here who made that same mistake. Very pleasing when it all fires up after the swap.

All's well that ends well.  Welcome to the Naim Forum.   This group has helped me many times over many years.   Available 24 hours a day, every day.

And they come free with the equipment!

Been there done that, also had recent help with surround sound connections and got help from the forum for that too.
