UNITI LITE - GETTING STARTED

Posted by: m.paul taylor on 05 July 2018

I have bought a pre-owned Uniti Lite and am using it in Spain. The sound is very impressive but I am having trouble with functionality. One thing which appealed was the fact it does Tidal. But when I try to access Tidal I get a message on the screen "Use Naim app". I had the app on my Ipad for NDS and Nserve for an HDX. Predictably, neither work. Can anyone help me, please? Like a complete eejit I left the handset at home which means I have to use the navigation buttons which is a pest.

Also, I have a choice of speakers. I am using an old pair of active Dynaudios using a bespoke lead (someone on the Forum recommended how I could get one) which bypasses the power amp so the Unitilite is operating as a preamp using the Preamp output socket. I have the kit wired to the TV which means I can use the source on the TV to select TV, Apple TV (which I use to stream Tidal), and DVD. I also have a pair of Linn Kans I would like to try. Forgive my ignorance, but will I need to disconnect the lead from the Preamp output before inserting the speaker leads for the Kans? I am not being totally lazy as getting to the back of the Unitilite is not that easy in view of where it has to be in the room.

One final note, the Unitilite was not that expensive - it's a total bargain!

If the Naim app is working for your NDS, it should work for the Unitilite in exactly the same way, and you will need the app, signed into your Tidal account, in order to work with it. If Tidal doesn't work, it may need a firmware update if it is on an old version.

Thanks - now sorted. The network was not "seeing" the new kit - now all is good
