Nova remote LED issues
Posted by: Alley Cat on 07 July 2018
A few months ago I realised the LEDs indicating which decile of volume increments you were in was not working with the 2nd/3rd/4th segments not illuminating.
I changed the batteries and all was well, but it's now done it again with Lithium batteries - is this simply a low battery issue or is my remote faulty?
PS everything else seems to light up!
.....and ordinarily I mainly use the iPhone App for things.
You could try re pairing it but that would mean a factory reset, maybe try removing batteries and putting them back in and see does it sort it, the remote on my Atom did a few weirdys until I changed the original batteries
I suspect that given the low power demand of the remote, you don't need lithium batteries and you aren't therefore seeing the life increase that the battery marketing suggests.
So I suggest put a new set of ordinary Duracell or similar and don't waste money on high end batteries that a remote doesn't need.
I doubt that re-pairing the unit would make any difference and you would probably have to put a new set of batteries in the remote to be able to do that anyway.

You can try a remote reset. Hold the button with 3 dots and the mute button at the same time until the circle lights all go solid white. You will need to re-pair it afterwards.

I agree, I probably don't need lithium batteries, which were bought for something else, just happened to be to hand when I changed the batteries last time.
I steer well clear of Duracell these days - they no longer offer a leak free guarantee I believe, and a set scuppered a very expensive Canon flashgun. Could I have got a conunterfeit batch perhaps? Not certain but I won't use their products now.
As you say the remote has low power demands and I don't use it often, but if battery change cures it I'll be replacing 3-4 times a year at this rate when I use it only a little.
Would be interested to hear how often other Uniti users are having to change their batteries.

Thanks for suggestion, I tried that and now I'm stuck!
Using those keys all segments bar 2nd-4th lit up so it has now presumably unpaired.
How to I re-pair the remote when I cannot access Settings on the Nova's front panel anymore?
I've tried holding the Home button to put the remote in pairing mode but Nova does not respond.
I should think you should put a new set of batteries in the remote as the lithiums are suspect. And turn your Nova right off (power plug out) for a few seconds and let it restart fully. Then try repairing the remote again.
good luck!

Well I just put some cheap as chips batteries from Maplin in and all segments now light and the remote is paired without me doing anything - odd as bot the lithium and prior batteries became poor in 3-4 months - normal?

When I can find my battery tester I'll see how those lithiums are faring.
