Speaker & Amp Sharing

Evening Folks

Quick question. I have some Motive SX2's with a Atom and a 250DR - really please with all that. Having moved house I have a a projector set up and here's what I would like to do.

I have a Yamaha 7.1 Dolby ATMOS AMP, I would like to use the Motives as front speakers, I then have some Q Acoustic centre L-R etc.

I want to be able to connect the NAP to the Motives and also the Yammy to them too. Any ideas on how to do it with some sort of box that will not compromise the 250's sound quality?

I use my Atom with my Arcam AV amp to drive the front speakers, using the pre outs of the amp in to the Atoms analogue input using AV fixed volume. However as you have an extra power amp not sure that would work. You could use a phono switching box of some kind to the 250 so you can feed it the pre out of the AV and the Atom. I use a switch that did not cost the very much from Amazon so I can have turntable and AV on the one input, works well and have noticed no difference in SQ compared to not using it. No doubt the forum would frown on it though,  One thing though you really should have all three front speakers from the same manufacturer or you will have a mismatch.

I can't see why that wouldn't work with the extra power amp as the Atom should pass its input signals to the pre-out sockets. Seems a much neater solution than switching boxes etc. Agree about the speaker matching across the front channels. This will have much more of an effect on the final result than the sonic signature between the Naim and Yamaha amps.

There’s a useful FAQ topic that covers this in detail.
