NAS Operating Temperature

My Cisco 2960 and Qnap TS251+ NAS are both in the loft. Both are working without problem, but whilst doing a bit of tidying up on the Qnap yesterday I checked the system status and saw that the temperatures for the Qnap and the HDD were in the 46 -48 degC range. A quick check of the specs for both the NAS and the Cisco suggests 40 - 45 degC as the maximum for the operating range.

To be fair neither feel all that hot - just warm to the touch, and no warning messages have been produced by the NAS, both have fans which seem to be running nicely and there is air space around both - albeit the loft gets pretty hot during the day.

Does anyone know if there is enough tolerance in these products to handle our current hot weather or I am looking at a problem if the hot weather continues?

Thanks

That's a bit on the hot side for a HDD, probably not enough to cause immediate failure, but it may shorten the operating life a little.

Thank you! It's all backed up so I guess I should wait and see what happens. As a matter of interest, what would you expect as an operating life for a HDD used most days to stream music?
