272 won’t power up after disconnecting burnby

checking out the addition of an xps2 to 272 streamer. When Burnby detached and original power cord re-attached to 272, the 272 will not power up. Does the burnby reset the     272 internally and if so, how to reverse?

Make sure all is powered off. You will need to refit the Burndy connector link plug.  Then  power up.

You should place the link plug back ... I think this will do the trick.

Yes re-attaching the burnby allows the 272 to power up but I want to compare the sound without the xps.

You should have a link plug supplied with the 272 that fits into the 272 burndy socket,  that connects the internals to the regulated mains power.

Hah! Brings to mind whether, when assessing changes to an audio system, should we be cold-stone sober or, glass in hand like when we usually listen

Not entirely sure how relevant this is to your problem, but when used with an XPS, the 272 draws all its power from it. It’s own power cable becomes redundant, and should be removed.

GSR; i’ve Had the xps2 connected for a few weeks now; the best indicator that we have an improvement in sound quality is that my listening hours have doubled of late. Much more enjoyment out of the system. Considering swinging for the fences with an XPS dr despite my.vendor not having one to audition
