NS01: copy files from USB to NS01

Posted by: DGHB on 21 July 2018

I can play music on a USB stick connected to my NS01, but how do I move the music to the NS01's internal HDD?

This can only be done if your unit has a 2 tb hd installed. If so you will need to find the name of the player to be able to copy the files. The way to do this depends if you are using windows or a mac computer.

Yes it has 2TB storage.

I use an iMac (with n-Serve app) but I also have a Windows lap-top

What next?

Plug the stick into the computer and copy the files to the server’s downloads folder.

Apologies: where do I see that folder?     What application do I use?   n-Serve?

Thank you

You just use the computer’s file manager and drag and drop the files, just like you would with any other files, such as Word documents or Excel spreadsheets. The NS01 is presumably on your network so would be visible on the computer. nServe is not relevant here.

Ok, I hope this is my last dumb question.     I found the NS01 on my Mac's Finder.   There is a downloads folder.

All I do is drag & drop files from the USB stick into that DOWNLOADS: correct?

Many thanks

No dumb question, that should do the trick!

To add a little bit: the 2TB has two folders: one called 'music' which contains all the music rips by the NS01 - the second one is called 'downloads': you're free to copy your own music to this folder. Might take some time before everything becomes visible ...

Many thanks for your help: it all worked.

Much appreciated.
