Loving my new Core....

it was a bit of a leap of faith, but blown away. The iOS app interface is exemplary. The rip quality brings out a subtlety I never had from ripping to my iMac. A good move, to be sure.
Glad you are pleased with the Core, would not be without mine.
I'm with you guys. Great piece of kit.

Same here.
I don’t have one, yet perhaps surprisingly my life does not feel empty.
I do have a Core. My life is certainly good and full (particularly after a meeting old friends for a couple of pints at the local pub).
Is this just a happy coincidence...?

I’m glad to hear that. It certainly isn’t the asnswer to the meaning of life, or as fulfilling as awakening. It’s nice as far as material things go, but one’s life should be good and full without such things of course.
I just installed my new DC1 BNC cable between my Core and N272,and even after only a couple of hours on the cable,it sounds fantastic.Getting rid of the supplied adapters and adding the DC1 appears to be a real step up,Jazz at the pawnshop has never sounded better. Can anyone tell me which direction the DC1 is supposed to go?Currently I have the end with the Naim logo coming out of the Core, the non labelled end is attached to the N272.
Loving your new core
Loving yourself more
Loving music all the more...
:-)
On HDD or SSD? Hod does it compare for you with US HDD via S/PDIF? ????

I too love my Core. Apart from all the convenience, it also suits my Cyrus amplification very well, both sonically and aesthetically. Very happy. I have a question though, regarding the accompanying power lead. It is supposed to be Powerline Lite - but how one can tell it actually is Powerline Lite? There is no any naming, neither on the lead itself or on the attached tag. From what other say Powerline Lite has "floating pins" and "floating retainer finished in high gloss". I can see these features in my cable - does this mean that Naim "regular" power lead, that is supposed to go Unities outside the UK, does not have these "floating" features? My lead is also approximately 2m long, which I find rather unnecessary, 1m would suffice.
Yep that’s the lite. I got one with my nova....just tried a full fat Powerline with interesting results...

Worse?
I put a spare full fat Powerline on my Core and enjoyed the result into a DAC, not tried it with a streamer jet.

interesting in that it gave more authority to the bass and structured the music better, but seemed to lose some of the zest to the lite version, with a darker presentation. I have just put the lite o to the psu for my zen mini and zest is restored without losing the bass authority...dont ask me why!
My lite went back in the core box ...replaced by a leg from my CHC hydra cable
Sounds no worse or better..but keeps the earthing centralised
A superior power cable has brought great benefits to my Core.
Best, JN
I love the sound of my Core, digital out into NDS/555PSDR. I am re-ripping most of my CDs. The sound is quite wonderful.

I've never looked back - bought one of the first. Love the sound, the convenience, seriously one of the best decisions of my hi-fi career! Was listening to some Canned Heat last night, an old CD from the very early nineties. I couldn't believe the sound I was getting and I put a lot down to the Core.
If this thread is some clever ruse by Naim to sell Cores, it's working on me.
I'm still ripping my collection, I need to do some more listening. Fortunately the new Forest Signatures should arrive tomorrow to run off the Nova. Great discussion guys!
Enjoy the Forests, I'm very interested to hear your experiences with them!
Maybe that's for another posting ;-)
there had been a lot of bashing of the poor ol' thing, about time some positive things were mentioned (disclaimer: I don't have one and doubt will ever do but like to see the positive comments!)
Love mine and have right from the start. Yes you can fiddle around with PCs and NAS drives but I love the simplicity. It been installed for a year with an SSD and hasn’t put a foot wrong in all that time. Big thumbs up from me.
HH, always great to hear you chime in on a topic with such enthusiasm.

The Forests are wonderful out of the box and are a work of beauty to boot. They’ll need a solid 100 hrs or so to burn in and will open up much more I’m sure. My Hawks certainly opened up more over time.
