Loving my new Core....

it was a bit of a leap of faith, but blown away. The iOS app interface is exemplary. The rip quality brings out a subtlety I never had from ripping to my iMac. A good move, to be sure.
As the Core should be very similar to the Unitiserve..
I run my serve spdif BNC into the Ndac. And can tell a big difference in quality in my system if I have turned off Auto and Stay Connected and Rip mode from the app once playing.
Dont know what options you Core users have but worth trying if connected likewise spdif BNC directly to either a streamer or dac/pre/integrated.

Interesting,I will have to look into that TOBYJUG,I do connect my Core to 272 with a DC1 cable.
Are you saying you have to do this every time you play a new album or something?
Congrats with the Core!
I get that its new device and better sw platform, but did anyone go from unitiserve to core and why?
Br Lars
You have auto standby but after one of the updates this cuts in even when playing or ripping so I have it set to never. There is also a stay connecredbut I’venever tried it

I also use the spdif connection and find it a good step up from the intranet cable
Not quite sure what you are saying has to be done to further improve sound quality??
Please explain further if you can
Thanks

I keep those options turned off all the time. Unless those times when ripping and if having to reboot the router from dodgy coverage so the serve is discovered again.
At times I've sat down for a listen thinking something sounds not right, only to find I forgot to turn of ripping mode especially, and the auto/stay connected.
Once you've finished ripping and want playback, it seems logical to turn this mode off and only turn it back on when you next want to rip another album.
Perhap shutting down the circuits that controls ripping leaves it sounding better - like turning off the display on CD players.
I also keep the Unitiserve powered up all the time, only powering it off if on holiday or thunderstorms.

in upnp mode, is it also worthwhile to turn off auto, and rip mode? but no stay connected i presume ? It is the first time i heard of this possibility with the unitserve.
I just checked...I already have “stay connected” turned off...”auto stand by” is set to never, but I can not find “RIP mode” anywhere.
Sorry for the OT, but....... do you know if the ripping quality of the Uniti Star is the same as the Core?
Thank you.
