Tidal

Typing into the search bar is so slow and sometimes stops altogether.
I've tried reloading the app but still have the problem.
Anybody else getting this?
I have been using Tidal on my I-PAD for almost a year, never encountered this problem. Are using it on Apple, Android or PC? Might make sense to try on another device.
Sorry - not much help to you here either.
I access Tidal using Linn Kazoo on Windows 10 on one system, Lumin on iPad on a second and Naim App on iPad for my Muso. I haven't had the problem you describe on any of my devices/systems.
Are you using the Naim app on Android or are you using Tidal's own app rather than using the integrated Tidal interface in the Naim app? Those are configurations I haven't tested.
Just tried Tidal's native app on my Android phone, and typing into the search bar is quite slow, although not to the point of stopping altogether.
Just to be comprehensive I have installed the Naim App on my Android phone to try to replicate your problem. I can't get the Naim app to work on my phone at all. The App loads the home page and then appears to freeze completely. I guess I won't be switching from the iPad Naim App to Android version anytime soon.
The Naim app works fine on my Android phone and Fire tablet.
Hmmm. I'm using Android on my Samsung phone.
Not the first time I've read negative comments re: NAIM/Tidal on this configuration.
Might have to get me an iPhone...
Not neccessarily an iPhone, an iPad mini might be an option ...

I have the Uniti Core, i have downloaded both Tidal and NAIM App on my i-phone and i-pad, and both work well. Maybe time to buy a Core
Android is the problem. iPad mini here I come.
The Tidal app search text box on Android is very sluggish for me as well. This happened a few updates ago when they "improved" the search function. It starts searching on the first typed letter, so you have to enter the next letter a few seconds later. It's bad enough that I now use the BubbleUPNP app, that is much better in many ways.

Don't do it !!! I bought a mini as I didn't think I needed the full size iPad, but now that Apple have dropped the Mini 2 the Mini 4 is actually more expensive than the basic iPad (normal size). Save your cash and get the cheapest one you can: I would if I was doing it again.
I got my mini 4 from the Apple refurbished shop - but even with a £60 reduction it was still more expensive than a full size device. (By the way, the refurb shop is worth looking at - I believe Apple replace all casework on a refurb so it looks like new - it's just the box that's different to a brand new one. My Mini 4 was spotless)

Agreed, full size is the way to go, Mini is good if you're travelling or whatever but as a primary 'remote' full size for sure
Yes the mini is good for travelling, but its processor is a bit old & I believe (listening to www chat) it may run out of support in the not too distant future & it may get stuck with iOS 11 software & not able to go to iOS 12. I looked for the latest processor & bought a 9.7inch, not as small as a mini, about halfway between a mini & full size, & it works for me in my travel bag.
Re ipad etc, since you already have Android, give the BubbleUPNP app a try. Buy it if you like it after a trial period.

yes, when I said full size I meant 9.7 not the gynormous Pro!
BubbleUpnp. Can't see how that will activate my streamer...
According to Apple’s own uk website IOS 12 will be fully compatible all the way back to iPad Mini 2, so no worries re Mini 4!
I have to say the Mini 4 is pretty nippy considering the age of its processor. I tend to use mine more for Naim duties than my iPad Pro 10.5, and whilst the Pro is far more powerful in respect of graphics, photos etc., the Mini is by no means disgraced. I love them both!

Left menu, select renderer. If your streamer is DNLA compliant, Bubble will see it.
Then presumably my ND5XS isn't compatible... "Error 501" apparently.
Anyway, that wouldn't affect the basic Tidal/Android problem that I already outlined.
iPad 9.7 now on order from ebay...
So I’m thinking of a Core in which case I’d probably ditch Tidal Hifi for a standard premium account and put the difference towards cds. Tonight as an experiment I’ve changed the Tidal settings on the Naim app to ‘High’ which is 320kbs AAC, and blimey, it’s not half bad at all on my Nova, a warmer sound with increased bass, although lacking the FLAC definition I almost prefer it in some ways as it’s less sharp, definitely ahead of 320 Ogg Vorbis on Spotify without a doubt. I’m pleasantly surprised how good it is and it’ll give a nice contrast to full fat rips or downloads on the Core but yet be perfectly usable for general listening and discovery and there’s always FLAC RP for free!
Go for it.
I'm sure you won't be disappointed as it's exactly what I did a few months ago.
I find ordinary Tidal okay for the times I use it.
I managed to find an ex-demo Core at a reasonable price.
"Hifi buffs go deliberately for worse playback quality shokka"...
So (don’t you just hate it when people start sentences with ‘so’?) I acquired the iPad 9.7 (thanks for the recommendation, Tallguy) and after a fun day loading in all my apps and discovering how it works and so on...
The Tidal and NAIM apps are much more impressive on this machine. No more drumming my fingers waiting for them to catch up with my typing, no more going around the houses to access different functions, Tidal menus of my music now appearing on the front page of the NAIM app. Very happy.
Also, it’s replaced my old Note4 as the Apps couch machine for all my other digital needs - pretty much everything except getting my dustbins to talk to the fridge and the like.
Hmmm. I’m beginning to think I might be at risk of being subsumed into the Cult Of Apple. I’m already here, though. Can a person be in two cults at once? ????

No, no no! - don't let it happen.
Like you, I have an iPad which I use primarily in conjunction with my audio system 'apps', and it works beautifully well for this. However - swap Windows 10 on a good PC for an iMac with IOS - never!
Mind you, I'me glad you've found that the Naim app works very well for you on the iPad.
