Well after hanging out my xps2 for a 555 I am absolutely gobsmacked at the difference it has made to my ndx.........and its still warming up. Cracking product.

All wired up so time for switch on. Not sure how long it’s been powered down for. The dealer had it a week. Here we go......

Totally agree with [@mention:75483719132025372]. I now have more authority, depth, clarity, soundstage, the list goes on. A stunning transformation, and I’m sure it will take time to settle down.

The hairs on the back of my neck are standing up. The music is so much more real and engaging.

I do, I do!

You have to pop round for a listen when you get the chance.

The 555 what exactly what my setup wanted!

Looking forward to hearing the transformation, plus I assume it still needs a little timorous warm up...

This is giving me a real dilemma.

I did hear the 555 PS hooked up to a 272 and 250 DR at a Kudos demo day a few months ago.

I remember that when they played a track by Aimee Mann which was very familiar to me, I was blown away by the emotion in her voice etc,. I don't mind saying that it almost reduced me to tears.

I have a week off next week and I really cannot decide whether or not to set up a demo of the 555 with my dealer.

I just know where it's going to end.

Should I make the call?

And all of that just from massaging your Burndy?

What about the 555PS?

I just love the enthusiasm from you chaps.

Mind you, I still remember moving from a, ahem, another power supply on my NDS to the mighty 555DR. Yes, 'WOW' is a good descriptor of my feelings at the time.

Enjoy, True Blue and Finkfan.

Or ‘blimey’, which also describes the effect of 555 on 272.

Lol. Yes Wow was actually my wife's response. I couldn't get my jaw off the floor to actually finish the word so my first word was woo oooo.

Followed by an increasing manic grin and chuckle.

Finkfan glad youre enjoying. Currently I'm on the letter e of my artists listening to every one again. Alphabetically. Don't want to miss anyone

Good to hear your waiting paid off FINKFAN...is it a DR model?

I think you demoed an XPSDR didn’t you?,so any comparisons you can give after only a few hours?I know I will end up with one some day,I just like hearing all the comparisons from actual users, that have had both power supplies at home.

Hi No Quarter

My 555 is a non DR. I did have an XPSDR for a few weeks and whilst it was better than the bare 272, the improvements were fairly subtle. They were noticed more when I removed the XPS. I also felt that, whilst I missed what the XPS did, I’d miss the money more.

Adding the 555 was an immediate and considerable improvement. It really does transform the 272 into something else. The soundstage widens and deepens. The sound is cleaner and smoother. Bass is deeper and tighter. The music is much more real and engaging. After hearing the 555 there’s no going back.

Listening again this morning, the music is beautifully balanced. Sounds previously hidden in the depths of the music can now be heard. Complex pieces are now clean and clear to hear. A superb upgrade.

I always think an upgrade is a real winner when the comment is made ‘there is no going back’....

ps excellent summary, can’t wait to come over for a listen......

[@mention:51970829741422995] - as I mentioned... it will take few weeks for your 555PS to settle into your system. So expect some further improvements

Thanks FINKFAN,keep the updates coming.Honestly though,an XPSDR with Superlumina full loom is rather good too,but I am yet to hear a 555.

I too auditioned the xps2 Dr in my system and for the price was not impressed with it.

The original xps2 did enough.

Now for less price than an xps2 Dr a lofty 555 non Dr sits. Sits better with my ears and with my wallet

My 555 was supplied with an NA-XPS Burndy. What are the improvements of changing this to the newer S-XPS Burndy??
