uniti atom upnp using remote

Posted by: balma01 on 26 July 2018

Hi, I'm testing a UNITI ATOM and I'm surprized besause the UPnP is only available via the app and not using the remote and the display, the same limitation is applied to  internet radios browsing. Whit my old UNITI I can browse upnp and iradios using the remote and/or the front diplay.

Why this limit has been applied to the new UNITI serie?

As the Core doesn't have a remote or a display, I assume you are also using an Atom, Star or Nova?

Anyway the answer is that it is a design decision that Naim made. It was probably because they expect everyone to use a phone or tablet to control their Uniti. In any case, that is the decision that they made. It's nothing to do with the Core.

Hi David, I'm using an Atom, thanks. I understand Naim  expect everyone to use the app to control the Uniti but why only for upnp and not for other inputs that are available using the remote?

I suppose it's because you get so much more information via the phone/tablet than could be easily be controlled and displayed by the Uniti. It's not really the same at all with the simpler functions. Also maybe it's a chunk of software they didn't have to build and get certified. Anyway Naim confirmed on the Forum previously that was a design decision not a bug.

The browsing in UPnP, and all on-line services is done by the app(s), not by the unit itself. So no app, no browsing
