LINN LP12 Majik vs Naim NDX
Posted by: Kent3888 on 30 July 2018
I just got myself an entry level LP12 Majik, which Pro-Ject 9cc tonearm with Adikt MM cartridge, no upgrade done. Running it through latest phono amp from Lenjonklou, Gaio 2.
After testing this deck A-B compares to my NDX(without external PS). It seems the NDX has way more authoritative and weight compared to my LP12, which disappoints me greatly. I wonder does I need to upgrade the tone-arm and cartridge to bring the LP12 closer to my NDX?

Already here,..Innocent Bystander has lost the debate, why use such a language.
It is absolutely irrelevant.!!Such a language, and argumentation technology,..audio engineers have tried to impress with for decades.....nonsense.!!

To both Peder and French Rooster, pease, pray, show me exactly what you consider to be overly scientific language that I have used in this thread?
This thread has been dormant for a couple of weeks now, so time for a prompt: [@mention:68159343997754055] & [@mention:56335183628232089], I am still waiting for explanation of your accusations.
I’ve owned 2 LP12’s the first a mid 90’s Cirkus/Linn Basik with a Valhalla psu came through the post and sounded great as soon as I plugged it in. I then swapped the basik for an Ittock and Valhalla for a Lingo the work was carried out by Audio T in Brighton I drove it too and fro in my car and when I plugged it in it sounded great.
The second I bought from a guy on AoS who lived on the side of the main Eastbourne to London train line. It was a 1978 Red Button with an FR12 tonearm. After a large G&T I carried it back across the railroad tracks down a country lane and then drove back home with it on the back seat.
When I got it home I plugged it in and it sounded fantastic. The LP12 is a belt driven record player on springs not a Moon Rocket.
???? Hi Innocent Bystander ????,....My comment was in response to French Rooster's claim,..that you argued from a "scientific language".
If he writes so,...I presume he has read, interpreted it that way.
So French Rooster gets to answer your question,it was he that seen this.
Have a nice day....

Noted, however why would you pile in without checking your facts, rather than simply thinking to yourself tbat because one person had accused me of something that person must be right and I must be wrong??? If you see someone in the street being kicked, do you go and join in?

Innocent Bystander, i am sorry that what i said seems to affect you. I didn’t want. It was not an accusation and i have nothing against you and respect your points of view. I was just saying that you often want to prove the superiority of digital vs analog. But it is not very important.
I was not really going against you.

OK, and noted (and no offence taken).
It’s not that it affects me, just your comment about scientific language seemed to suggest that I was dressing up what I was saying in a manner that was either confusing because it was too technical, or that I was trying to hide behind over- technical statements (neither true). That was then picked up like a chorus by Peder, which was the reason why I then challenged you both to justify your ‘accusations’.
As far as I was concerned my response timed at 17:14 (UK time) on 3rd August closed the subject of vinyl vs digital.

◾1. I wrote a friendly answer, which I reinforced with a happy "smiley",so it would not be misunderstood...Also,..I concluded with "Have a nice Day".
It should have been enough with it,but you seem to want to take it further,it costs only unnecessary time and energy...but okay.
This is a forum,..In any case I works so,that I trust on what people write here...that they do not sit and fantasize things up about other forum-members...and states things that no other forum-members have written.
It should be,work like that,..for everyone here is well grown people.
Therefore,..I wrote, that if you use,in this case "scientific language",so you have already lost the debate.
This is because French Rooster stated that you used that arguments,..if he sat and fantasized something up he will stand for it.!!
◾2. This was, according to me,a very bad parable that does not even deserve an answer....on the verge of rude.
But yes,if I see someone being beaten physically,so I go into and help that person...this has happened in southern Germany.
But absolutely nothing I recommend,if you do not know how to act.
Hope now that this is out acted on my part.

Hi Peder,
I think you have misunderstood IB's analogy :-) He wasn't meaning would you go and help...?
I think the OP has definitely run off now
.......... and Peder, I would be a tiny bit careful with the use of "Have a Nice Day". It's an Americanism that is not used that much (if at all) in Europe, or at least not used with the same intention as it is in USA. It's a platitude often used to add an air of insincerity and/or sarcasm.

I suspect some nuances have been lost in translation - in both directions.
My gripe was in being criticised for something I did not do, and I pursued it today because when I asked for explnation there was a deafening silence. But that is past, and whilst I suggest to both of you that you get your facts right before challenging someone, I accept that neither you nor FR really meant anything other than that you didn’t agree with me on the digital vs vinyl discussion.
It is in the past now, and as far as I am concerned the matter is closed, and normal discussion can resume, including the sometimes amusing and sometimes frustrating but always interesting challenges of conversing with people across the translation barrier when English is not your native language
Of course, by the matter is closed Imean the subject of this exchange, not the matter of which medium is best! You believe it is vinyl, I know you’re wrong and it is digital! (assuming good recording/mastering in both cases). You of course would reverse thise words! And that’s what fuels the forum, and the arguments one way or another privide interest - but then the only thing that actually matters is our own individual tastes and whether we can satisfy them...

???? MIKE-B,....Thank you for clarifying this,..this with shades and so on,not quite easy ????.
I have been in most European countries many, many times but actually never thought of it. Maybe because I never used the phrase,...I think.
Now I would show me extra friendly...and then it became apparently completely wrong ????.

But we can all learn, and forgive, and be richer for it!
Have a nice day! Meaning, in this case, I hope we are all at peace, and that you will indeed enjoy the part of today that remains!

Phew. So it is all settled then and we are all in agreement: Vinyl is rubbish
