What’s your pride and Joy

Out of all your boxes, what would be the one you would take with you as you scramble from your burning house?

Im torn between my Nac 52 and my 08 SL2 speakers. If it came to the crunch I’d collect the SL2 speaker. Probably impossible to replace them, just truly beautiful and only 300 or so made.

How about you??

From the big system, nothing. It's all bloody useless on it's own and heavy. I'd grab the UQ2 from my office. After the fire, I'd then have most of a working system.

Oh come on man, your Insurance will get you replacements. I’m taking your special honey ???? box. Something that took you along time to get. Where is the love ❤️

maybe your SC DR

The Vertere turntable for me from the main system.

However, I'd probably grab a NAS drive from the office first, as it has so much important information on it.  Music, photos, memories, copies of official documents etc. etc.

I'd grab my very small 2TB SSD drive which holds my daily backup from my MacBook Pro—including all my ripped CDs and downloaded high resolution music files. The Nova can be replaced. It's virtually impossible to replace all of the data (including years of photos) on that backup drive.

I would grab my cats, everything else is replaceable.

Exactly. That would be my wife! The rest is all just stuff.

Look I’m sorry, I’m talking stereo boxes only. Naturally wife’s, pets, and kids (family) are a given. Im just trying to get idea of what was your Yurika moment. Kinda connects to another thread about what’s the most import part, sauce or something else.

Or it maybe a special build or even JV gave you something back in the day that you hold close to your heart, would that be grand.

Forgive me if I’m getting a bit nerdy????

I bought the whole lot at nearly the same time and the SCDR 6 months later. So hard to choose.

I suppose if I picked one and had to build a whole new system from zero, the SCDR is the most logical purely because it has the most use case scenarios.

But perhaps my server with all the music on it would be better. It is a black box after all, even if one I built myself.

You are in the conpany of nerds, forgiveness is not required!

My recently restored 1958 Thorens TD-124 Mk I. Two reasons: 1) it’s on the top shelf of my Fraim, making it easier  to grab in case of fire, and 2) I think it’s pretty.

Easy decision for Nova owners!

My LP12 - or at least my Aro  Or if I was upstairs, my Nait 2

My Roksan TMS/Artemiz/Shiraz/Artaxerxes, it’d be pretty near impossible,to get another one.

My record deck couldn’t be replaced and the arm has a 2 year waiting list but whether it would survive a grab and run I doubt so I’ll probably resign myself to an argument with the insurance company. The NBLs are hard to replace too but again not portable and would be damaged in the process. The records probably won't be adequately covered. The rest is replaceable and the rips are backed up in my locker at work.

My NAT01 and NAPST, although I believe there is/was an XPS-T power supply option, so maybe just the head unit. And if there was time, I'd grab the Aro - all assuming I'd already managed to salvage my '60 burst, of course.

My first thought was to grab my Quad ESL-63s, but dang they are hard to carry.  But they are replaceable, if with difficulty.  What do I have that couldn’t be replaced?  My new Oppo UDP-205.  I am one of the lucky ones that signed up in time to get one from Oppo.  But I couldn’t leave my new Naim Uniti Core behind with its newly ripped library of all my CDs, so I’d have to grab two things,

ATC SCM40 speakers without a shadow of a doubt, second would be my Hugo TT.

No they don't... listen to Rossini!

The NAS drive, no only does it have all my music files it also holds a data backup of my PC, and I can almost completely restore all my programmes and data to a new PC from it.  For the hardware Insurance will take care of replacing that.

Thinking about this again, I live in a house built into a hillside below road level, it’s 28 steps up to the road from the upstairs lounge (Nova/PMCs) and a further 14 to get up from the downstairs lounge (TMS/NDX/olives/B&W), so I think I will grab the record cleaning brush and think sad thoughts about the TMS.
