What’s your pride and Joy

Out of all your boxes, what would be the one you would take with you as you scramble from your burning house?
Im torn between my Nac 52 and my 08 SL2 speakers. If it came to the crunch I’d collect the SL2 speaker. Probably impossible to replace them, just truly beautiful and only 300 or so made.
How about you??
my first lps I bought in the 1959 and early 60s .hifi boxes can be replaced these. these cant .insurance sorts them
Certainly none of my HiFi boxes-all replaceable.
I suppose grabbing the music NAS would be smart but in the end there are one or two pictures on our walls I'd save if I could.
House insurance details would also be a good idea!

Thanks for the kind words. Reading them took me back to the days I got started in this Hi-Fi thing and what has happened since. Those days were in the late eighties and saw me in the stores of two really good dealers, one in my hometown, the other where I went to college. After hearing what is possible and who made the great things, I dreamed about owning three things: the original Audio Physic Virgo, the Ekos and an Urushi. Luckily I had all of them and enjoyed all three. The Virgo is still in use at a friends place, the Ekos at another one, but the Koetsu will stay with me. According to the dealer who sold me the Urushi in the nineties, there were noticeable variations between supposedly identical cartridges, with some great Red Signatures among the lot, but only few bad Urushis. He had one of each and I traded the Red Signature for the Urushi after a few days. The Red was too mellow for my taste, the Urushi better focused and majestic in a nice way. It has been rebuilt a few times due to age, use and user stupidity. Jan Allaerts did this well, but the last rebuild by Stylus Expert was really outstanding. My Transfiguration, which I bought after the stupidity mentioned above, is a better Allrounder and has no problems tracking highly modulated passages. But the is a certain magic in the old Koetsu.
Thanks for your reply Mulberry I totally agree exposure to exotic product at the dealers in the 1980' s definitely sowed my enthusiasm for Hi FI in the early 80 ' s as well.I suppose it made my ears realise what was possible from audio equipment.I was lucky as I shared a flat with a mate who worked at a London dealer The Cornflake Shop who where Naim dealers but also stocked Roksan when they launched the Xerxes also Bryson and Counterpoint .Brands which where new in the United Kingdom. So he was always bringing equipment home for extended listening.
A friend has been using a Koetsu Black for the last 20 years and it's been retipped once by Van Dan Hul.He tells me that it just doesn't seem to wear out and I think he plays records daily on it.
Yeah great days for you and I those 1980' s - 1990's.........the roots of our audio addiction...ha ha !
Wishing you a fine day
Cheers Ian.
If I had the strength, and time to fit the transit bolts, one NBL loudspeaker under each arm.
Gotta be my Dynaudio Contour 1.3SE's, they're discontinued so no amount of insurance payout can get me replacements, unless I get lucky on eBay.

Have to agree with Halloween Man.
It would have to be my ATC Active 40's. 6 months in and they still surprise me! (In a good way!)
For me, out of my Hi-Fi stuff, it’s my Hugo and my 552 DR... I think I could escape my burning house clutching both... but the 552 suspension might get knackered.... you might say these are replaceable and perhaps the 552 might be... but out of all the Hugos I have heard, I have yet to hear one as good as my gem... I got lucky... it’s a superb example.
My records, books and photographic slides and negatives.
The black boxes are so well made, I’d just throw most of those straight out the window - hopefully not killing any incoming firefighters in the process!
The transit bolts for the 552 and the NDS would probably dictate a very difficult decision. The 552 would win because I can console myself with an ND555.
My music collection (vinyls, cds, files).
I had a big fire in my company early 2015 when we lost almost everything, but fortunately not the servers with the system and information, thanks to an employee that rescued them early when the fire was beginning since he lived very close to the facilities. So I have the experience to recover from a devastating fire. I can imagine building the kits again but not the music collection. In such a case, may be I would continue streaming from a service only.
This thread motivates me to continue ripping my cd collection and having a copy in my office.
My vinyl followed by my SBLs and CDS3. Everything else can be replaced. I might burn in the attempt though...
