Tidal dropping AGAIN

Posted by: Zackwater on 08 August 2018

After the update a few months ago my NDS went months without dropping a single song.  I thought my problems were over; well they are back. It’s so frustrating.   I use Tidal. Does not seem to occur on internet radio.  Anyone else experiencing similar dropping with Tidal the last couple of days?

I was having issues with an NDX and a QB but these were resolved with the firmware patch - did have a couple of drops but not had one for ages now. it was annoying as my underlying internet provider is the same as that which hosts Tidal in the UK - it's only 3 network hops from me to them so I should have no issues! Could be Tidal having performance issues. My only issue is that since the last IOS update, the naim app loses connections to the QB

No Tidal dropouts for me on either the main system or Qb.

I have had Tidal dropping out on 272, Mu-so, Qb, Linn Majik DS, Chromecast from Tidal app on an iPad and Mac and PC laptops using the Tidal app. Which suggests it is not a Naim problem.

No problems with Tidal drop outs using a proxy.... with a direct connection I get regular dropouts. The proxy has greater TCP window memory sizes to accommodate  greater round trip delay whilst maintaining the FLAC transfer .... my NDX can’t cope with some of the latencies I experience whilst maintaining a FLAC data throughput with its limited TCP memory.

Also given a comment above.. don’t confuse the Tidal.com IP addresses, with the addresses used for actual media streaming... they are very different, last time I looked at least one of the media transfer sources came from Akamai cloud hosting.
