Router - Power cables
Posted by: Obsydian on 09 August 2018
I manged to order a basic Belden power cable figure of 8 to replace my Sky Router (and Sky box) bundled cable
I was planning to try a Powerline with the fig 8 adapter but left that on my TV, Better Call Saul in HDR is sublime now
VERY surprised and happy with the result (bass and more lower level detail peeled away), for me better than the Cisco 2960, best of all an easy suck it and see.
I am finding more and more, the whole streaming chain responds to some TLC.
Makes me want to buy some crazy audiofool Router for £1000
My first assumption was this is a mick take. However you have previous MO.
I was waiting for you and Simon
Few hours in and i would say far superior to the 2960 (in terms of improvement), it has changed the soundstage, more separation, wider and clearer (detail)
I washed and polished my car last night and hoovered out the inside too, have to say it's running much better today!
Which Belden cable was it ? I've made up a few power leads using 19364 and found a positive difference - though it's rather a devil to squeeze into a standard UK mains plug (and putting green/yellow tubing round the drain wire makes it even less easy). I put the change down to the reduction in RFI/EMI as a result of the shielding. It's CE approved too, unlike many boutique power cables.
Not tried it on the Sky box though ("It's only the telly") - I don't care enough for the pain and blood that usually comes with making the leads up.
As far as I can work out the router has assigned an ip and will route data from Wan to Lan. Its like saying you changed the plug on the kettle and now your hifi sounds better.
The main thing though is that you are happy, I am pretty sure you are taking the mick so no harm done.
TALLGUY - 19364.
MERCKY - I did Hoover the dust off some cables

I find Dyson better, with the battery powered devices giving better results than the mains connected ones. Now I need to think of a valid sounding reason

Handy safety hint: Don't feed this in the wall as it can't be detected with cable detectors as a result of the shielding.
It was a Dyson ????
Just a standalone 1m cable no long rung through a wall.
I worked out to buy the cable, connector and plug would have cost £20, add my soldering skills are poor (fig 8), found one for £30.
Glad I did as the cable of Big and rigid.

I washed my car last night, too. Can't do a thing with it this morning.
Try using conditioner.
I find it helps if you leave it running 24 hours a day. I haven't dared to work out how much extra it costs in fuel though.

Ooh - yes, that might help!
Sorry i was trying to find some Naim carwash for you guys
PT Barnum would love this forum.
Mind you they do go faster if you polish them - cars that is.....
This gives increased focus to the sound...
No Naim recommend not using mains conditioners.
