Qobuz High Res Downloads
Posted by: CSommer on 10 August 2018
Hi I've downloaded some high res albums from Qobuz, copied them to my Naim Core to the download folder. They show up in the Naim app with correct meta and artwork, but don't play. Has anyone else had this experience?!?
Files are AIFF and
- 16Bit 44,1 kHz
- 24Bit 88,3 kHz
- 24Bit 44.1

But why should you have to download “TARS” and then extract them? Have you ever come across this bizarre approach on any other site? ‘Really straightforward’ is HDTracks procedure.

Why not - it ensures you have all of the tracks as they are all in the one file, rather than leaving it to you to make sure you clicked each one in turn and making sure they all arrive, and complete ?
Extraction consists of a double click on the file in 7-zip so it's not a convoluted process.
I'm more bothered with having to rename every track, and redo the metadata from Qobuz to get the same format as all my other rips/downloads.
I also find it mildly annoying that the pdf booklet (when there is one) isn't in the .tar file.
As to the second question - yes, not .tar, but .zip from Neil Young's site (redirects to somewhere else, but initial selection is from the Neil Young site). That was so painful I don't think I'll be going back - select a track, select a file type, wait while it "converts" to your chosen file type, select to download it - leaving the error message on screen until the track finishes, dismiss the error message, select the next track, etc. Then unzip each downloaded file - each zip file contains 1 track. Then repeat for those that either don't start dowloading or don't complete. So 10 tracks, 10 downloads, 10 zip files, 10 extractions.
I've had problems with HDTracks but not Qobuz so it looks as though we all have different experiences.

i live in France but sometimes can download from hdtracks. I gave false adress etc... I confirm that hdtracks is really simple and straightforward.
The advantage with qobuz is that you can buy individual tracks, not the entire album if you don’t want.
