I have 3 servers on network. 2 are not visable on pc but I can access all of them with naim app etc to play music. but cant access server view on network on pc , so cant open server contents for drag /drop etc. any help please
Sometimes if you turn them off and then on again they will magically appear on your computer. Then while they are visible, map the drive and then they will always be there.
done that . thanks ,in the past had one missing , reset pc etc always did it . reset/powered down every thing but no joy
Have you turned on Windows discovery on your PC servers... if you search MS FAQs you should see this mentioned.
checked that discovery on cheers
Have you tried manually mapping it with 'map network drive'? If you know it's IP address you can even use this e.g. \\192.168.1.25\Share or whatever the share is called.
Also try restarting your router (and PC) because sometimes even though everything appears to work, it turns out that one or another service it protocol has stopped by itself.
best

thanks . tried lve the combination of resetting power about 12 albums to copy across when I find a solution thanks
Windows?
(Which version?)
Linux?
(Which distro?)
Mac?
(Which OSX version?)
windows 10 3 servers only one displayed on network view . all work accessed via app to access music cheers
I take it that you can still log on to the other two (i.e. Remote Desktop still gives access to them from your client machine)?
May well be Microsoft dropping SMB v1 in more recent Winows 10 updates that's the cause
What is the client machine?
I see it all in "This PC" view
has you guess iam not pc techy . thanks
There are a few possible causes for this, but I need to know what is in use in the relevant parts of the network before I can offer coherent suggestions.
My assumption is that you have a Windows 10 client PC (possibly a laptop, but the physical form is irrelevant), and 3 desktops PCs running Windows 10 (Windows 10 home maybe?) acting as servers. Depending on certain decisions made at the time of installing the operating system different things may need investigation.
However if you have real Windows servers (Windows 2016 Server), then the defaults are different.
Hi on windows 10, they depreciated some SMB features which screws with discovery/network.
We are not supposed to link to the outside on this, but in essence you want to turn on SMB1/CIFS sharing, do a google search or follow below.
Search for features in cortana, one of the results should be 'turn features on or off'.
This will load a window scroll down until you find SMB 1/CIFS. It will most likely be off. Turn it on.
Click OK then restart the PC.
Do this on any pcs on the network. You should find after this in 'network' all devices appear now.
thank you gary that's sorted it . also thanks to everyone else Youre a star gary cheers al
all servers on viewed thank you gary
Be aware that Windows update may turn it off again, perhaps every month (this months patches are due on Tuesday evening so you’ll soon find out) as SMB1 is deemed a security risk (which it is, but there’s still equipment which requires it to work correctly).
thanks made a note to remind after any update
