Editing tags

Posted by: Campmusic on 25 August 2018

I have a Qnap NAS, some of my music was ripped using dbpoweramp with a script that ensured album tags were in place. For some reason when I updated power amp I lost this script. Does anyone have an example of this type of script? If not how can I edit the tags on my Mac, and is there an app for editing tags on an iPad?

thanks for any suggestions.

You should have dBPoweramp on your computer. On a Windows machine you just right click on the tracks and an option in the dropdown is ‘edit ID tag’, or something similar. I’d imagine a Mac works in the same way.

I find Metadatics very good for editing metadata on a Mac. If you can so it in DBPoweamp that’s probably all you need, but if not, Metadatics is the best I have used.

I paid for 'tag editor' for mac which is a very nice piece of software with some simple intuitive elements which automatically extrapolates likely tags from file names etc.

JRiver Media Center has very good tag editing facilities, and some very clever ways of updating tags from file names and vice versa.

I find Yate tagging software made for Mac and works very well.

Not sure what do you mean by a “script” ..

Are you by any chance referring to the single line “instruction” of how to construct the album folder and file names when ripping?

This would have nothing to do with tags but with file and folder name.

Thanks for the clarification - Indeed the instruction line, I called it a script because of the other characters used to separate the text.

I’ll take a look when I get back to my Mac.

As far as I can tell, YAte, metadatics, tag editor and Jriver don’t work on an iPad.
