Hi,
after months of hesitation, to replace a Uniti I purchased a NAC N272 and to preserve the CD part a Drive MOON Neo 260.
Both associated with a NAP200.
First hours of listening did demonstrate a great improvement at all levels.
Unfortunately, the trouble started reading Cd’s. After a few hours, the connection went down. The digital RCA cable from Chord was replaced twice and the problem was recurrent even with a Kimber cable.
Strangewise the reading of CD is still possible with a low end cable.
did anyone have experienced the same troubles and if yes how did you solve it?
thanks

It sounds as though the Moon might be faulty. It seems a strange choice, rather than say a CD5xs. If it’s new, your dealer should sort it out.

By "reading CDs" I assume you mean the player is playing the CD but the digital output is not getting through to your 272. If so, your problem sounds to me like a cable issue. I have a CD5XS connected to the digital input of a 272 via a Naim DC1 cable (BNC to BNC) and the connection has proved faultless. What type (not make) of cable are you using? If it's a toslink cable, can you check that it is not becoming partially unseated at one end? If you remake the connections at both ends does the problem go away (at least temporarily)?
Hope you solve this problem soon.

Thanks,
the initial and replacement cables Chord Epic digital RCA-RCA and Kimber D60.
multiple tentatives to reconnect did not solve the issue.
The choice of the 260 drive vs CD5XS was based on a more detailed sound through the drive.

RCA s/pdif connections can be easily lost as the connectors make multiple or tenuous contacts. The problem gets really bad when you have a stiff braided cable that exerts undue pressure on the RCA phono plug. This is another reason why BNC connection is so far superior for s/pdif - performs better too.
Having said that, if you are unable to get a signal through reliably even after re-connection or manipulation of the lead or connectors then it could indicate the there's a fault.

After several hours of triggering various configuration options, I managed to make it work with the Kimber cable on the BNC input providing the RCA input are off.
I can’t explain why it works !
