Naim App struggles to find Muso

Posted by: Super on 07 September 2018

Just recently the app has been hit and miss when trying to find the muso on my i-pad. It is connected  with ethernet on a netgear 8 port splitter and TP Link across the mains. And before anyone mentioned that that is the problem it has been fine previously and also my other stuff like the TV and blu-ray players etc are fine. The light on the side of the muso is still white and even on the app says it is connected to my router with the correct number, but it isn't connecting. When i disconnect  the ethernet plug it goes into wi-fi mode and everything is fine. What's going on ?  Any help would be appreciated.

It sounds like your muso isn't getting an ip lease from your touter. If it has worked before then I suggest you turn the router and the muso off, restart the router and then when it has finished restarting, turn your muso back on again.

Also you probably should restart the Naim app at the same time. There is a new app being rolled out at the moment which has better discovery, so that won't do any harm, but as it worked until recently, it's restarting stuff I would reckon is the main fix, especially the router. (You could restart the switch and the ip over mains things too, but the router is the key thing here.

The 5.11 is a real headache. Slows the system down. I’m loosing the connection to my 272 every 5 min and the system is unable to find my NAS.

Any possibilities to go back to the former app version?

I've been using 5.11 (beta) for over 2 months & it has rock solid discovery with my NDX-NAS.    Suggest first thing to try is the usual forum  fix it all,  a system reboot:  turn it all off & leave the router off for >5mins, restart the router first & let it finish, then LAN switch if you have one,  then NAS,  then 272 & finally iPad.

I’ll give it a try Mike, thanks for the advice!
