Forum Musings...????

1. Why is it only 15 minutes to change something on this forum.?
Sometimes you want to change something, or correct a typo, and then it's too late.
2. Would today respond to a post in a thread that I started.
The last post in that thread was 18 June, and now it was closed.
Why do you close threads on this forum.?
3. How many weeks after the last post wont threads be closed.?
Above are some questions I wondered about,..In an otherwise good working forum.
Have some other thoughts too,but we can take it later at some point.

Peder,
15 minutes was chosen so it gives you enough time to edit something that you may have got wrong. Any longer and it becomes a bit of a nuisance for the reader of the thread as text keeps getting altered or added to.
Old posts automatically close after a period of 60 days without activity. This prevents old dormant threads being dug up and members finding they are advising on an issue that was actually long ago and long past.
Of course, if there is an old closed thread that you started that you would like to have reopened then you can always ask me to do so.
I hope that helps.
Richard, is there anyway to set the forum, that if the word 'brexit' is used, it automatically closes the thread in 5 minutes?
... Thread automatically closed due to use the word 'Brexit'...
(Oops, did it again!)
Don’t worry it will all be over soon one way or the other and then we’ll hear no more about it.

Sadly not. Although, I could add "Brexit" to the naughty word filter. Hmmm....
Brexit is definitely a naughty word!
Oops - used it: I hope I won’t be aaaaaarrgh...
Thank you Richard for your reply.!
Good to know that you can open a previous thread.
Will new facts, results emerge when testing...then it is an advantage to move forward in the thread that this has been discussed.
◾ A proposal: We who do not have English as the main language, sometimes I find that it was wrong in the wording when trying to explain something.
Understand your feedback on the 15-minute rule, but do you think it can be extended to 20 minutes.
Then we,..who do not have English as the main language, have a little longer time to reformulate ourselves.

When I read the topic listing, I read 'Ford Mustang' instead of 'Forum Musings'. I must listen better to the inner me, develop a midlife crisis and confront my wife with a 'Ford Mustang'.
