NAIM NARCOM remote

My Narcom remote has stopped working in the "mute" button action. It became more difficult over the past weeks. All other functions are OK.

I would guess its not reparable and a replacement would be the answer?

My Naim Flash still works, which is fortunate as the factory can no longer supply this unit.

At one time, some years ago and in a previous early multi-room set-up, I bought some extra ones so I could control the preamp from other rooms.
You may find one for sale on-line.

The other thing is, often, it's years of spilt tea, sweat etc. which builds under the "rubber matting" which lies behind the buttons/is part of the buttons which stops some buttons from working.
A dismantle and clean usually rectifies the problem.
Cleaning the underside of the rubber and the circuit board itself where the buttons make contact works wonders.
I've rescued many remotes over the years by carefully dismantling and cleaning them.

Thanks to BLYTHE and ALBA1320.

A strip  down might work for me but the rebuild would be another matter. As the button was just a little stiff to operate I got hold of my Air Duster used normally to remove the beard from my electric shaver cutter and foil and gave the NARCON a few  squirts.

All OK and button nice to operate now. Better than last time. The dog upset a full tumbler of orange over it. That was an RIP job.

Thanks again, Douglas.
