NAC 52 phono board-any way to tell what is fitted?

Posted by: Bruce Woodhouse on 24 September 2018

I'd like to find out if my NAC 52 has the MC compatible phone board fitted. Anyone know how to do this? Would Naim know If I gave them the serial No?

What was standard fitment?

Apologies if stating the obvious, but there used to be a sticker on the back of mine.

SN would not tell you - they could be changed quite easily - I certainly did this with mine.

If you are happy to open it up, the board will be marked. 523 is MC 522 MM

Bruce, Naim could only tell whether a board was fitted when originally specced and delivered to the dealer.  Since then, of course, anything could have changed.  The best way to check is to carefully remove the sleeve (don't catch the acrylic fascia as they can be brittle with age) and check which boards are fitted close to the BNC inputs.

Just open it up and have a look but be careful not to damage the front  facade, best to push from the back forward. Boards on top level and bottom level You can google pics of it. I think the the 523 k borads are MC spec for linn carts. (I think)

You could ask naim. They will only tell you what was in it when it left the factory. Who knows who’s play around it over the years

lol as above by Richard.
