My Naim UnitiCore no longer automatically ejects CD after it finished ripping

Posted by: musicfan51 on 28 September 2018

Today I ripped three CDS and in each case my UnitiCore did not automatically eject the CD when finished . I checked the ripping monitor in the app and saw it was finished waited awhile then manually ejected the CD. I rebooted the UnitiCore ( by pulling the power cord) to see if that would fix it . It did not . Is there any setting That could change this features out will automatically elect when done ripping , or is my UnitiCore have an issue that has to be sent in to be fixed?  I have owned it in 14 months and it has never done this before .

I once had this issue when I had a Unitiserve, and it was a simple case of the dealer replacing the TEAC CD drive (actually a DVD drive) in the unit to fix it.  There was no charge and dealers keep a few of these slim drives in stock for just such occasions.  This is great as the unit doesn’t have to be sent back to HQ, which normally takes quite a bit of time.

Suggest you contact your dealer.

A factory reset of the Core will probably fix this. It's been a known issue for a while now.

You do a factory reset by pulling the power plug out and then holding in the standby button plug the power back in and turn on at the wall. Keep holding the standby button in until the light by the front panel USB flashes. Then let go the standby button and let it finish restarting normally. You have to put in the various settings again.

Anyway it probably isn't a faulty CD drive.

My Core also stopped ejecting CDs about 4 months ago . I contacted Naim and was told it was a software issue and the Core stops automatically ejecting after a certain number of CD rips . I was also told if was being looked at but alas nothing as of yet ....

See my earlier advice on a factory reset. This isn't my idea - the advice came from a senior development guy in the beta forum some months ago when a beta tester ran into this problem after putting beta firmware on a Core. Or you can just use the eject button until they fix it!
