Take your pick from the Dynaudio range which compliment NAIM very nicely and will give you what you want (particularly bass), through a wide price range as long as you like to play your music LOUD!????????

Audiovector make some great speakers that might fit the bill. In addition to what you're looking for they can go very loud without losing control.

Should we assume your sources and budget?

Where to start?!

Dynaudio, Kudos but more at the Titan end,  Neat but Ultimatums,  Focal Sopras.

As ever home demo essential.

For Metallica it’s an easy choice : Dynaudio

Pre-loved suggests budget is in the mix. PMC Twenty 26s are now end of line and available at a significant reduction on list price; they're also v good speakers, if you're looking for a top pair of good sized floorstanders.

My wife posted a contact advert having this text:

'Looking for a guy with excellent PRaT, with hard hitting and deep bass, strong dynamics and SLAM.'

I wrote a letter with perfume and flowerleaves and the rest is history.

Several have already suggested Dynaudio and add me to that list. They are what you are asking for especially with type of music you listed.

This is such an open ended question... could be more helpful if we had an idea of the budget you were considering and details of what amplification you have and room size...

Producing 'hard hitting deep bass' requires good amplification in addition to considerations on your room size..... so for example a used B&W 800D would likely not work well in a small room with a low powered amp...

PMC range past and present although they need a good source, pre and power to get the best out of them. Really you should arrange for a demo for those on your short list. What I and others think of as good or excellent you may think of as rubbish. Rich

Saras and Briks would fit the bill. Briks need to be Active to match Saras in passive, in terms of prat/slam.

Oooh; Saras - that's triggered a 'blast from the past' pleasant memory. I've owned a pair. Self-flagellation stuff. In a good way.

Saras amazing speaking on the end of a Olive 250 the first time I heard active Briks was at the home of the late Richard Hay (Nytech Audio) driven by Nytech 602 amplifiers it was also the first time I had seen or heard a LP12 and definitly the first time I heard music properly?

Yeah,..Sara needs Power, and must stand "rock solid".

Difficult to install if they are to play optimally.

A Nap250 chrome bumper was fine, 135s better. Sara stands, four steel nuts with tiny amount of blue tac to hold them in place between speaker and top plate of stand. Carefully leveled stands on solid floor against solid wall. Sara heaven! Few speakers match the punch of a snare drum like a Sara.
