iOS last update broke the naim app again

Posted by: Bouba on 08 October 2018

Hello all,

my Atom had  been working really well and browsing through my n’as drive music library using the naim app was rock solid and a real breeze since the last naim app update, but that was before I updated the iOS app on my various I devices including an iPad mini4 and an iPhone 8 Plus running now the last iOS update

now my atom keeps losing the connection with my NAS; I.e the nas will appear in the naim app’s list of servers about 1/10 times using both devices. Before the update everything worked perfectly

my iPod which runs iOS 9. Something enable seeing and browsing the NAS just fine

I'm puzzled here !!!!!! Is anybody else in the same situation ??

NO issues here. Try rebooting everything in your network. Turn them all off, then router/modem back on first and then Atom once the router reboots. If no joy delete the app from the IOS device(s) then download it again from the app store.

err???  some iOS numbers are a good idea.      iOS 12 has no issues for me,    12.1 has now been released,  now just installed & a short test looks OK,   so which is the one you are talking about?

The recent iOS update didn't universally break anything to do with the Naim app.  Hopefully a delete-and-reinstall of the app, coupled with a full network re-start, will fix you up.  Reboot the Atom as part of the network re-start

Since I updated my ipad mini 4 to iOS 12.0 It seems to regularly drop its wifi connection. Perhaps this what Bouba is experiencing since the naim app relies on the ipad’s wifi link to communicate with his NAS.

The wifi link can be reset in the ipad’s general settings but it is still a PITA when it happens. Lets hope iOS 12.1 improves this.

iOS 12.1 was released yesterday,  it has a few bug fixes & I believe one was a wifi issue of some sort;  it might be worth a lash

Thanks Mike. Here’s hoping !

The release notes mention an issue with 2.4 vs 5 GHz connectivity.

It's IOS 12.0.1 actually and the wifi issue is apparently just with the two new XS phones which preferred to connect to 2.4 GHz wifi rather than 5 GHz, so would be rather slower than people expected. I don't see that is going to help the OP though.

best

Rock solid with iOS 12.1 and a Beta-app. So the app store version should be even more stable

Whatever, with 5.11.2 beta app,  iOS 12 had no problems for me & 12.0.1 is the same (so far)
