Just added NAP100 to UQ2

Have seen questions asked, so seemed worth posting. Have just added NAP100 to a UQ2. Wow, excellent upgrade. Used RCA to DIN. Speakers are old Celestion 12Si. Great combination. Upnp & Tidal sources.
Yeah, I’ll answer you mate enjoy the new boogie factor having done a similar upgrade myself it feels good when it works out. ????????
Congratulations on the upgrade. Echoing Mr Paws comments, always nice when a plan comes together. I don’t know much about the Celestion 12Si so assuming they are a little inefficient and benefit from a little more oomph that the NAP100 brings to the system!
Adding a power amp to my UQ2 is an addition I’m hoping to investigate at some point. Did you try alternatives - NAP200 or 250.2 etc in direct comparison to the 100? Have to admit I'm tempted to see what a NAP200 would bring to the party.
The SL12SI is a (famous) SL6SI with an extra woofer. Very dynamic and goes great with naim i think. Yes is a bit inefficient and the NAP100 was needed to reach the listening levels i need sometimes (85/90 db), but I think there is benefit across the board. I am lucky in that i also have a Superuniti with Neat speakers, so didnt need to maximise the UQ, just needed enough extra to make it useful - so didnt directly compare with a 200. I havent directly compared the UQ v Superuniti as rooms/setups quite different, but i enjoy both systems (though clearly the Neat Momentums have the wider range).
Nice one, I run this set up now as my second system in a media room. Have fun, it’s a classic combination.
I looked up Celestion looks like they just make speakers for guitars and drive units but not Hifi anymore.
Yup. Shame. For many years they were one of the best. I think the consumer hifi speaker bit became part of KEF.
Does the NAP100 have the same speaker terminals as the UQ (which are different from the usual Naim power amp ones)?
I've just had the UQ plugs put onto NACA5!
Yes!
My Dynaudios are sitting on Celestion stands I bought in 1988!
I’ve read a couple of times that adding a NAP 100 to the UQ takes away some “boogie.” Do you find that to be true or it’s just more of what you already had?
I have some old Celestion F1 bookshelf speakers great little performers. I recently modified them to become a stereo wireless setup for my daughter using a Raspberry Pi and HifiBerry amp inside them. Works brilliantly.
[@mention:46056317147395691] - i find it provides a little more of everything. I have had the UQ2 a while, so was very familiar. As i mentioned I preferred the rca-din connection, and the nap100 has the powerline lite (the uq2 has the ordinary naim original).
