NDX system integration.

Couldn't find anything in the FAQ. Is there a list of equipment the NDX can control via it's rc5 link. My XS has a rc5 socket. Can that be driven by the NDX ?

Thanks

Hi James -

Given the Nait XS has a "Remote In" socket, and given that the NDX manual says:

"...With System Automation enabled and an NDX Remote Out socket connected to the Remote In socket of a Naim preamplifier (or integrated amplifier), CD player or the Naim DAC, the NDX handset and n-Stream App can provide system-wide control..."

I would be very surprised to learn that it did not work!

Thanks Hook. Having an n-vi nothing would surprise me with Naim software. Found this with a quick google on rc5.

Very neat !

James, I have the NDX connected up to the RC5 socket on my NAC552.  It all works perfectly!  Nice to be able to control the system through the n-stream app on the iphone.

Now if I could only find a way for it to turn a record over...

System Automation works a treat but where's recording/headphones and mono-selection?!

I hate the fact that I still need to have the ugly-ass narcom remote(s) lying around just for those

Funny I was thinking just the same...be great to have headphone switch and mono on NStream .... And AirPlay of course!

Thanks Richard. That's good to know. You've helped some rainy day contemplation.

+1.  And if Naim also adds the Disp button too, then I could easily park my Narcom in a drawer.

But it has been quite a while since any N-Stream improvement.  Makes me wonder if Naim thinks they are at job done.  Or perhaps they have turned their attention to a new, unified interface (never did understand the artificial divide between Stream and Serve)...

What cable do I need to connect NDX and Supernait?

If I am understanding this thread correctly, this will then give me volume control on the App - correct?

I think it's a mini jack - but check the NDX reference manual on the naim website. I have my 552 connected to my NDX and the NStream controls volume, source an muting duties for all my sources (NDX, 555, LP12)

I could get the NDX remote to alter my 282's volume, but I had no joy with the app.  All other functions worked fine via the app including control of my CDP.  I used an RC5 to 3.5mm lead, which comes as standard with left and right channels, and as per the Naim system automation PDF I connected the right-hand channel to the 282.  It was only after reading this thread that I decided to try the left-hand channel.  Success!  The volume and mute functions now work on both iPhone and iPad apps.

And yes, I can tell left from right........

You need a 3.5mm to 3.5mm lead, stereo or mono will do.
