Burn in - I know it takes ages

Posted by: HamiltonNZ on 07 November 2018

Hi team,

Thanks for all your response to my earlier questions (mainly around streaming as I progress through this journey)

But as I have added an NDX2, 4 weeks ago. Upgraded my existing 250 to DR’d version, 2 weeks ago. How long have I got to go before the SQ is at its optimal ? It has been a bumpy ride so far.

Cheers

Their is no hard and fast rule on burn in timescale....

if you can keep your system powered up 24/7 it will speed things up..... when I purchased my 300dr it took about 150...200 hours to really start singing....

patience is the key

As Wenger has stated no hard and fast rules leave it powered up my 300dr took the longest and was quite a bumpy ride settling down after about three months of daily use.

My ND555 seems to have settled after six weeks so many variations ?

Enjoy your journey.

Agree with above but would emphasize that the sound quality during burn in can go up and down like a yo-yo, to such an extent that you can wonder what possessed you to purchase it! Rich

Oh, it's a real roller coaster ride this burn in phenomenon! All I can say is fasten your seat belt and even better if you're wearing a crash helmet!! Only Heaven knows where you'll be led and to what possible end!!! Crazy us audiophiles!!!!
