Is there a Uniti firmware update coming soon

Posted by: Anavrin on 13 November 2018

I’ve just updated my MuSo QB today and I’ll be updating my big MuSo tomorrow, Am I correct in assuming there will soon be an update for the Uniti range for Airplay 2?

Hopefully will it will include the odd bug fix, I had a Star which the HDMI arc input from my TV worked (most of the time) I now have the Nova and so far I haven’t got the HDMI to work at all, I’m sure I remember a few grumbles from Nova owners a while back about HDMI so I figured it was a firmware issue.

It may be the tv also. I’ve a new Samsung (7120) and hdmi arc works perfectly with my nova

Mines a new LG, the tv comes up with a HDMI audio available message when connected but no sound from Nova I’m affraid

I just sent my Nova back to Naim as I had the same issue with HDMI. I had previously had a Samsung TV with no sound. I waited for the last firmware update but no difference. I have also just got a new LG TV which also gets no sound.

Have you tried optical from the TV ? You need to set the TV to DCM sound output too.

Optical is fine. Do you mean PCM? It was set to PCM and ARC is enabled.

Anavrin, yes, Airplay 2 is coming to the new Uniti all-in-ones and streamers as well as the Mu-Sos.

I wouldn't hold out much hope for bug fixes. I can see the commercial imperative for Naim to whack in another feature, but equally there's little incentive to fix bugs for existing customers. Which is annoying because there are some irritations that I suspect will never get addressed as they are slightly obscure. The one I'm thinking of only affects DSD files on a local drive <sigh>

Can you expand on that please,  I use DSD & have no problems

If you think that Naim don't bother fixing bugs then you should look at the release notes for the recent UnitiCore firmware update (it's on Naim's website in the news section).

Not wishing to veer off the thread's topic, but a brief answer to Mike-B. My DSD (file format is .DSF) files on an SD Card play but the metadata is not read and so I only see filenames and no the track name etc.

Brief reply:  I play DSD (.dsf) from a USB with no problems on NDX.   Maybe best if you start another thread.

For example my screen still hangs onto some covers from time to time... this bug is known since like always. And nothing was done.
