What is likely to be up Naims sleeve next?

Thoughts on what Naim are likely to be developing next ????

I think the Nac552 could be updated with a precision volume control assembly closely related to the  S1...... that would be terrific...

I would not mind updated burndies and snaics that isn’t that sensitive to touching each other or the floor etc., and while at it, why not throw in some SL technology in the signal path.

If we believe in personification of a group noun, then, to continue the metaphor: 'their arms'.

I'm just leaving...

They are coming out with a two-box record cleaning solution. The RCM 101 and PS-RCM DR. It will be the best record cleaning product in the £15,000 price range. It requires the 4-step cleaning solution cleaning at £100/oz plus the pure water rinse for £295/pint.

Discounted "Black Friday" Mu-so and QB's I imagine are more to do with the fact the Mu-so and QB have probably introduced many people to the Naim brand for the first time.
It's a damn good way to entice first -time Naim customers to part with more money, for the better sound quality integrated Naim systems and also their separates.
I do however agree with earlier comments that Naim should simplify their product range, with more logical range names.
Remember when we had integrated Naits and the pre-amps were 202, 282, 252 and 552?
Flat-cap, Hi-cap or Supercap?
CD5, CDx2, CDS3, CD555?
It sure seems more complicated these days!

I'd like some active speaker by Naim/Focal. Sold my Superuniti and Tannoy DC8 a while ago,

now looking at something like the Elac Navis / Dynaudio / Dali Callisto. Would wait if Naim announced something similair.

Elac Navis with an Naim ND5 XS 2 seems  an interesting option

Haha. I think you mean a headphone amp that you actually like. Your opinion of the HeadLine2 fronted headphone amps is duly noted.

They do actually have loads of headphone amps:

DAC V1
HeadLine/NAPSC
HeadLine/FlatCapXS
HeadLine/HiCap DR
HeadLine/SuperCap DR

So I assume you mean they should replace the analogue HeadLine2 fronted range of 4 headphone amps with something like a HeadLine3 that you approve of.

I've got no problem with the performance of the HL personally but functionally, a remote controlled HL with non captive lead and additional balanced connection XLR-4 would be nice. I'm just not feeling that such a product is around any corners.

A new one is needed, i have Sony walkman 1z can wipe the floor with all 5.

so i am expecting something better from Naim

Ugh...there are plenty of great tonearms. It'll never happen. Naim doesn't need to enter this market and it's not their area of expertise.

The Z1 is fantastic. I've used it a lot.

It comes nowhere near even my UQ2 on easy to drive cans though, and is a far cry from anything Headline related by miles.

Nor is the Z1's output stage as good as my old Rega Ear.

I can only assume that you simply aren't taken with the HeadLine's sonic signature. I think a HeadLine3 then, even if significantly upgraded from the current one, might still turn you off unless Naim decide to fundamentally change its character too. A change in sonic signature, while unlikely, is certainly possible. They could very well produce one that pleases you. Current (happy) HeadLine users might choose to go non Naim for their next Headphone amp in that case though.

if you have EÜ cap maybe but if you dont it drives all non Planars very easy

Focal utopia - kimber axios- z1 (4.4) vs UQ2

i tried headline2 with hicap, v1, 272 headphone amps...

272 sucks, V1 and headline are not bad but far away from their price tags with PS in my opinion..

i did head to head 272 vs creek headphone amp, creek was better, so much better with hd800, fostex900,utopia,mdrz7....with all and it is a quite basic amp..

Back to analogue and whilst acknowledging that Naim’s business strategy is digital centric I do think that perhaps they have missed a trick given their industry leading expertise with PSUs in not offering a 45/33 TT PSU that could be internally configured to match a range of players.

Lindsay, Naim did offer the NAPSA as part of the Armageddon upgrade package for the Linn Sondek.  They also offered the P3 Supply as well for the Phonosophie/Thorens P3. The latter didn't sell much at all, and I recall there still being some unsold Olive stock in the factory even as late as 2006.
