Although I've tried, I just don't get it. It sounds like a bit of a tuneless dirge to me.

I was cheering for King Cresosote/John Hopkins 'Diamond Mine' which is sublime...and utterly different to PJHarvey!

Well I liked that a lot too - in fact I was on the internet ordering it on vinyl last night after watching him on the Mercury - great performance.
