Does the HDX plays 176khz tracks in full resolution?

Posted by: VoodooSebi on 30 September 2011

As there is today the last discount day on hdTracks I'd like to know if the Hdx plays 176 kHz tracks in full resolution like for example the rolling stones high res tracks.

Thanks in advance

There has been tons of debate over these Rolling Stones downloads but looking at the frequency spectra it would appear that they were converted from the original DSD files using Weiss Saracen which filters quite hard above 30k or so.

As such the 24/88 tracks should deliver the same performance and cost less.

Hi VoodooSebi -

No, the HDX transcodes 176.4 to 44.1 on-the-fly as they are played.

To read previous threads on this topic, use the search facility and look for "176.4 HDX".
