Naim DAC - Connectivity?

Posted by: Lewy on 04 October 2011

Hi guys

How would one connect left and right phono to the Naim DAC?

I wish to connect my Virgin box to the NDAC but not sure what cable I would require

Can you get, either:-

1. Left/Right channel RCA phono to Coax SPDIF?

or

2. Left/Right channel RCA phono to Digital SPDIF?

Anyone done this and point me in the right direction?

Regards

If your Virgin box has a digital output, you would use that. Digital outputs are usually optical through a Toslink connection or coaxial via either an RCA (phono) connection or BNC connection. Only one cable is required and you should set your Virgin box to send only 2-channel PCM, not bitstream so the DAC can decode it.

If all you have on the back of your Virgin box is Right/Left sockets, those are analogue and they should not be connected to the DAC. They may be connected to your amplifier in the same way as you would connect a CD player or radio tuner.

Frank.
