Steve Jobs

As an antidote to the rather tasteless posts elsewhere in this forum.

Sad day.

Tog, indeed, but more so  respect for a great innovator, engineer and business leader who clearly has genuinely shaped world IT culture.

And I think, Apple will go on to be an innovative enterprise, as Naim did after the death of it's founder.

May Steve Jobs rest in peace.

I pray that it does, but some magic was lost today.

I feel strangly gutted, but i guess that comes from using only macs since 1990

A beautiful man with a beautiful mind. People like Steve Jobs don't happen very often. He's changed us all.

If you've made the world a better place during your lifetime, you've done well. If you've left a legacy that others will preserve and develop, you've done really well.

Thanks Steve

The ponies run, the girls are young,
The odds are there to beat.
You win a while, and then it’s done –
Your little winning streak.
And summoned now to deal
With your invincible defeat,
You live your life as if it’s real,
A Thousand Kisses Deep.

I’m turning tricks, I’m getting fixed,
I’m back on Boogie Street.
You lose your grip, and then you slip
Into the Masterpiece.
And maybe I had miles to drive,
And promises to keep:
You ditch it all to stay alive,
A Thousand Kisses Deep.

And sometimes when the night is slow,
The wretched and the meek,
We gather up our hearts and go,
A Thousand Kisses Deep.

Confined to sex, we pressed against
The limits of the sea:
I saw there were no oceans left
For scavengers like me.
I made it to the forward deck.
I blessed our remnant fleet –
And then consented to be wrecked,
A Thousand Kisses Deep.

I’m turning tricks, I’m getting fixed,
I’m back on Boogie Street.
I guess they won’t exchange the gifts
That you were meant to keep.
And quiet is the thought of you,
The file on you complete,
Except what we forgot to do,
A Thousand Kisses Deep.

And sometimes when the night is slow,
The wretched and the meek,
We gather up our hearts and go,
A Thousand Kisses Deep.

The ponies run, the girls are young,
The odds are there to beat . . .

Great posts from everybody - I am truly sadden by the loss of Steve Jobs.

I really hope Apple continues to create top notch innovated products

The thing about Apple products is they are affordable, easy to use and they work.

> The world has lost an icon and innovator, one of the bright lights in an otherwise quite depressing global world.

Sincere regrets from a pc user - you didn't have to buy into his way of doing things to respect him and his contributions

I love apple products. They are just so well thought out and nice to use. RIP.

As someone on the world service last night.

He realised that people don't want complication - people want simple uncomplicated things which work well.

It struck a chord ...

Rest in peace, Steve.

I bough my first Apple product in 1989 after a year in the US where I first had a taste of the Apple: it was a Mac Plus without a hard drive ... It served me well through my MA Thesis in 1991 and a few years after that. What fond memories on such a sad day.

His legacy - the way we interact with technology through innovative and beautiful Apple products that are user friendly and designed not just to work but engage us - he truly changed the world

Pev says it all.  I wasn't a Mac enthusiast, but as an IT 'professional' I have to admire Steve's contribution to our society toady and in the future.  My prayers will be with both his close and his extended family.

Feel extremely saddened myself, since I heard about his untimely demise. As a microsoft employee, I can truly say that Apple is the best thing that has happened to Msft. And Jobs to technology.
