Stubborn iTunes artwork - help !
Posted by: james n on 16 October 2011
I've got 3 albums in my collection that i've got artwork trouble with. One of them is the Naim label download, Phantom Limb. For some reason 2 of the tracks have one set of artwork, the other 8 another set. In iTunes it looks fine but served via Playback to n-Stream (or any other UPnP player) it shows the wrong artwork.
I've tried, get info on the album and cleared the artwork, deleting the iTunes artwork cache to force it to rebuild the artwork folder. If i change the name to say Phantom Lim, then i can add the correct artwork and all is well. Change it back to the correct name and its wrong again. I've tried exporting the AIFF files to Flac and then re-importing. I just can't seem to get rid of the artwork that i presume is embedded in the files. I've checked the files have read / write permission.
I am at a bit of a loss now as to where this artwork is and why i can't change it.
Any help much appreciated !
James.

Try using Bliss to manage the artwork for these files - versions available for Mac, Linux and Windows - trial version is free.

In itunes right click the problem tracks and get info, there are tabs in here and amongst them you will find your errant artwork, delete it.
Sorry I cannot be more help I have not used itunes for a long time.

Find the artwork online using a google image search or the like, (not too big, say a 300*300), then in iTunes select all the tracks of that album and right click and select 'get info' then copy and paste the artwork into the artwork box.

DT - Done all that. ITunes changes the artwork, but there is some remaining artwork that is not getting overwritten that the UPnP server picks up. Very frustrating !

You emptied the istream cache one assumes.

Yep. Tried it on a few UPnP players to rule out cacheing. Your media rage suggestion on another thread looks like a good solution.
