Anyone else been 'Banned' from Only Vinyl!!

Posted by: apye! on 17 October 2011

Morning,

I would be intereted to know if anybdy else has been banned from buying vinyl from 'Only Vinyl'.

After returning a record to them and receiving a refund I was told not to place any more orders with them. First time I have ever had this kind of response from a record dealer!

I have also brought from them on Ebay under the names 'LAMF Ltd' and 'Devils Jukebox' without any problems at all, I am banned from buying this way as well.

Anyone else had any bad dealings with this company?

Interesting business model, if your looking to go out of business.

What a strange re-action?

Stu,

The 'Laura Marling - A Creatue I Don't Know'  US LP I posted about a while ago complaining about the pressing!

Strange behaviour from a supplier - I use All Your Music (US) and Rockbox (UK) who seem courtesy and helpful and still have a decent supply of vinyl - banning customers seems an odd way to establish a good customer base, mind you as I've never tried that approach then I can't really comment on it. I tend to think making the customer happy (if I can) is a strategy - only goes to show how little I know about business.

I really like Laura Marling, but I only have the digital versions of her albums so can't say whether you were a bit unlucky or if all the pressings are dodgy.

FWIW, I never buy anything through eBay - I prefer a proper shop even if I do buy mail order from them. Possibly I pay a premium, but I do get good service.

I hope you get it sorted - you should be banning them. I'll make a note to avoid them.

I'll patronise a store that bans music lovers.

This company sounds like the character on Seinfeld. No vinyl for you today .

Seriously, most businesses I know of are going out of their way (given the economic reality) to solicit business. This company must have too much money.

In the bike shop I used to work at, my friend got so peeved with his customer, he did the same thing: 'no bike for you today'!

Meant to say  I'll NOT patronise a store that bans music lovers.

That's a shame, Guy...

I thought you meant patronise them with a couple of kegs of gunpowder
