Any news on when they will be out. IIRC Beta testing had been completed ?

Thanks

Hi James -

That matches up with what I heard at last weekend's RMAF show from Doug, so hopefully we are getting very close.  To make sure I didn't miss anything, I just looked at the app store and N-Stream is still at release 2.1...

Looking and sounding great.

The new functionality is excellent, the playlist function amazing and for those of us who encode to flac the conversion to WAV is certainly the answer to many prayers.

Jitter certainly mostly unclocked. Tog

I'm beginning to think it's not going to happen this week.

I think it went off to Apple last Thursday and given it takes about a week for Apple to approve an app we may not have to wait too long at all. More likely to happen at night given the time difference. Tog

So it's Apple who release the apps? In that case we still have 6 1/2 hours of hope. Hurrah!

I have had an Ipeng update today and that really is a wonderful app.....bring on n-stream....ready when you are!!

So an update to nstream is imminent. I must admit with the misses away, I can use my living room to listen to music, and have an airport express connected to an old cyrus amp and epos speakers. I'm using plug player to stream my flac files over airplay, and the whole user experience is much better than using n stream.

8:00 am UK time...no update

It's gonna be a long weekend......enjoying music...ho hum!!!!!!!

Hi Allen,

Was there a "wishlist" thread? For me creating plalists is the one thing i'm hoping for on next release.

O, and simpler naviagtion rather than the endless present button pushing at the moment.

Don't think playlists are part of the update. Tog

I heard they were.   We'll see.

If they are that would be brilliant. Tog

Surely Naim wouldn't keep us waiting this long and not provide the playlists, the most requested upgrade and one which is provided by every other UPNP app? Good grief!
Posted on: 22 October 2011 by garyi

At the moment the nstream app is clearly pulling straight from the uniti or qute or what ever. Play list support is basically a whole new app software from the ground up, that taps the Server not the Renderer.

Worth baring in mind, disappointment being crushing and all that. There are plenty of apps that will tap the server for you, such as kinksy.

Surely you mean "hopes" rather than "disappointment"..... "being crushed" ?

What I am saying is when you are disappointed it will crush you like a little beetle, your life will in effect be over because a little free app does not have playlists.

You know, never mind the music replay quality an all that, you need your shiny shiny haha.

Ahhh ... now I understand - how could I have missed it?? I've been so blind .... you were actually using sarcasm...... wow

No Playlist making in next version.

Posted on: 22 October 2011 by KRM
So if Naim, after all this time, can't put playlists on n-Stream, what can be the reason?

Are they waiting until they can do it and test it on every conceivable UPNP scenario?

Do they lack the necessary R&D expertise?

Have they developed their streaming technology down a blind alley which prevents them from offering functionality which is generally taken for granted in this area?

Personally, as it stands I have almost had enough of n-Stream and now it would seem that we still will not have playlists !! If they haven't improved browsing either, at best I will move over to something like PS Audio eLyric, or at worst,  I will seriously consider moving away from Naim streamers altogether.

Allen,

I dig on PP.  I would avoid elyric until they fix the "wifi when locked" issue.

Alternatively, you could use Foobar and the Remote app which has few faults.

Lastly, Kinsky is SSSSSSSLLLLLLLLLOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWW!  I can get along with it.  Also it constantly loses sight of the server/renderers.

I know this is all guess work, but what are we thinking that the next version of n-stream will offfer?
