Just visited Amazon CD section, why are they so expensive? Has anyone tried them before, what's the quality like and is it playable on Naim Cd players? Thanks.

For Swedes it's quiet cheap and SQ good.

They are usually very good, but not always.

ELO's Eldorado is exceptionally good and on SHM-CD even better.

As this is probably the best album ever made then it is good one try

They are prefectly normal CDs that will play on any player including all Naim CDPs, it is the care taking in re-mastering that sets them apart. However, I'm not convinced it is always from the best quality source tapes. One ELO I tried "Balance of Power" was rather poor, but that's the exception rather than the rule.

Some CDs are expensive, but fortunately I got my Sandy Denny box set (not SHM) when it was only £140.

When i used to buy SHM cds, i used to buy from CD Japan.

It used to be the best place to buy them from.

You might want to start with one of the SHM compilation CDs and make your own mind up about quality?

They are two cd sets one normal cd of tracks and the SHM cd of the same.

I got mine from CD Japan also. Some lovely little gems and some absolute howlers. Situation normal.

I've pretty much stopped now although I will browse from time to time. Anything allegedly optimised for CD playback is of no interest, although  some of the masterings may appeal. It's difficult to get information on this sometimes.
