Home Theatre Optical Out?

Posted by: JBBY on 30 October 2011

Hi folks

I've an Arcam BDP100 on home trial at the moment.

I've hooked-up a HDMI lead to the TV and am currently drawing the sound from the TV via optical cable to my UQ.

I would like to have the sound run directly from the BDP100 to the UQ though, so I tried connecting an optical lead as I have a spare in this way, but all I get from the speakers is a hiss. I then tested this lead on my Apple TV, same result. So thinking it might be the lead I tested the lead from the TV to the UQ and it was perfect.

Is the optical out of the Apple TV and the BDP100 multichannel which the UQ cannot read?

Or should I use the coaxial output?

Hoping somebody might be able to help.

Thanks

Set the digital output to 2 channel PCM on your BD player. That'll sort it.

Also, turn dolby digital to off on the atv audio & video menu.
