Problem AV2

Posted by: kev49 on 31 October 2011

Hi all,

I have a problem with my AV2:

I just plug my nap175 who was under repair at naim. Since then, I hear a white noise coming from my front speakers, the sound is very strong.
The problem disappears when I move in "direct mode", but all other modes the noise appears.
I did a "reset" UPDATE is written on the display, but it made no difference at all.
Can you help me?

PS. Sorry for my English

Kevin,

Do you use the 175 for powering your centre and rears?

If you run the test tone do you hear the tone via your front L & R?

Mr Underhill,

yes, I use the 175 for powering my centre and rears.

I feel that it is precisely the test tone that is stuck on my front ...

Except that would bounce between the speakers - shouldn't affect both at the same time.

Silly question time:

I get this white noise when a Naim power amp is connected to speakers, but the preamp is NOT connected.

Do you connect the AV2 direct to your main speakers power amp? Is it connected properly?

If you connect the Main apeakers indirectly, i.e. via a pre-amp, does the main system function OK, i.e. no white noise?

with another preampl, the problem disapears.

so it is not my power amps, not the cables...

Is the word "update" written on the display after the reset is normal?

Kev,

No.

I'd ring Naim HQ and have a chat with support.

Do an internet  search for the manual , almost certain a free download can be found, just use the full Sony model number.
