Look out for a new company about to launch in about a couple of weeks from now if they are on course, called Simple Audio. These are ex Linn engineers setting up to complete at about the Sonus level and offering both a streamer with or without built-in amp.

If they turn out to be ok then they should pick up on you Userve and use you current music files. Check out their website, for a cheapish multi-room system they look promising. Don’t expect Qute levels of sound, but who knows. Their philosophy is to use Powerline to distribute the Audio in preference to wireless, so might be an added interest to you.

Likesmusic, the new server software is out, I installed it yesterday and works like a charm. I did nothing and tonight my laptop proposed me modify my home network settings to share music with the SB Touch, LOL!

The SB Touch also have my vote for a bedroom system, where it's size and functions will certainly be appreciated (namely the touch screen and wireless networking). No problem with WAV files listing with the Touch, where you'll see raw text file names as you see them on your computer, minus the dot wav extension.

SB Touch but with UPNP so I can use J River and/or Foobar?  This is my streamer until I get something that betters it!!!

Buying one right away.  Can sell it along if it isnt at least equal to my Juli@. 

Computer may be leaving the listening room afterall!!!!!!  I could simply run a cable tomy HDTV from my office where the PC running JRMC will reside.

Has anyone stacked up the SB Touch with the Qute for digital out?

I didn't tested the Qute more than a quick listen 2 years ago at a HiFi expo when it was lauched, so I can't say much about the quality of SPDIF it got. However, many folks here are using it for that purpose, and the general opinion seems to be highly favorable.

My SB Touch is working with the stock power supply and an average digital interconnect. I never experienced a lost of synchro between the Touch and the nDAC since I bought it, nor any audible signs of SPDIF distress (roughness, edginess, strange sounding timbres, etc...).

It is a way to go, but it is not the only way.  I've used a Mac and VB that way and got good results from both - didn't get any headaches so no need for tablets. Don't like the idea of USB ports in DACs as it shoves computer noise right up them, which is not nice. I prefer a good USB/S-PDIF convertor. Of course, that fits the Naim philosophy as no DAC I've heard is better than the Naim DAC with 555PS. 

UQ vs W4S Sonos as a streamer in to Naim DAC - very little if any difference in SQ.

Sonos is nicer to use and supports more formats. 

I would think either would be as good as, but not necessarily better than SB Touch. 

(My Sonos up-samples which I think has benefits: nothing scientific, it just seems to improve the clarity: a Meridian CD transport does the same and has the same appeal) 

Of course, hi-res is out in my set-up, so the UQ beats the Sonos if hi-res is your bag, 

If the Lord had wanted us to stick UPnP on our Macs then he'd never have given us the Vortexbox 

Sonos just works with a Mac - no special software required - you do need a Sonos bridge though.

The OP is already using Powerline to supply his Serve so presumably he is not encountering the problems that we all know are possible with this method of transfer; I was not suggesting its use as optimal, but neither is wireless, at least IMHO.

The engineers involved in this project are quite well respected and I for one will give their product a listen once available, what’s to loose?

The units are fitted with an RJ45 socket, no wireless built-in so that makes them more interesting to me. Connect them how you wish.

Hi A, I have iPhone and WLAN router so I simply use the PlugPlayer application on my iPhone and its headphones to listen to my FLACs from my NAS served via UPnP, when I go to bed. You can, of course connect the iphone to the amp in your case. I just wanted to share this option to you if you own some of these toys already.

@Guy - er I've never really got on with previous iterations of Slimserver/LogitechboxSqueezer but the lure of a UPnP server that works on a Mac was two much and I had to have a go with the latest flavour.

Well I did get one track to play The Beatles "No Reply" - mono remaster and it sounded OK - but half my other files refused to play - control via nStream was too slow and artwork was hit and very miss - ten minutes later I was back to the trusty TogServe 2 (Golden Elk edition) with Vortexbox - and relaxed again.

You are speaking my language Likes!!!  I will use JRMC along with the new My River App, or PP.

WOOOHOOOO very excited.  I want one NOW though and I hate buying things online.  No local retailers seem to carry Logitech Streamers anymore.  I will keep looking.
