Jacques Loussier

I picked up a CD in the local charity shop yesterday, the Jacques Loussier Trio playing music inspired by themes of Erik Satie. I had never heard of Loussier, but £2.25 for the local hospice later, I have made a great discovery. It's a terrific album. I wonder if anyone else here likes the Trio, or has any recommendations for their other albums?

I like them, and have heard several of their recordings. In general, I recommend the more recent work - Loussier's early albums ('Play Bach' etc) are a bit too easy listening for my taste.
Cheers,

The digital 'Play Bach' from 1988 is stunning, much better than his earlier analogue version...and I love analogue!

I have a Digital Recording of Play Bach too and really enjoy it to be honest.

Nigel,
look at this:

There's a DVD of this wonderful concert, Bach's 250th anniversary in Leipzig (Swinging Bach 2000), with all sorts of excellent performers. Jacques Loussier looked not much older than he did in his album covers, in the early 60s...

I have a Music Club issue of The Best of Bach (MCCD 113). One of my first CD purchases, and still one of the best sounding. Plus a great performance!
