Top 100
Posted by: floid on 19 November 2011
I think everybody has a list of 100 albums that you consider you're favourite's so here's a thread devoted to just that. Every album I put on here will be an album that I could not live without. They will be in no particular order but so we can follow it every album will have a number beside it. Comments would be good, maybe they are yours as well. Let's see how it goes.

Don't know this album but if you consider it to be in your top 100 I will investigate.

what is this anyway?
Floid, I presume from the fact that you have added a second 97 that this is YOUR top 100 or do you want people to add to it? I don't think I understand what you want this thread to do?

Hi Sloop John B
It started off as my top 100 with hopefully comments from other people on the music included but as with most of the threads that start off one way they seem to go in all different directions. Just happy for people to join in. Let's see where it goes. as for the album pic...This may be better
I agree with Sgt Pepper, but is it really so far down your list?
I like the other albums (except the Roger Waters one I can't say, as I've never heard it - the only PF album in my Top 100 would be Piper At The Gates of Dawn).
I guess everybody will have their favourites 100 or so albums. There are just so many records that I like and any top 100 is up against "Folk Roots, New Roots", "5000 Spirits", "SF Sorrow", "Village Green", "Land of Grey & Pink", "Anthems In Eden", "Electrosonic", "Leige & Lief", "Eldorado", "Valentyne Suite", "Sandy", "Whatevershebringswesing", "In The Court of the Crimson King", "Third World War", "Every Good Boy Deserves Favour", "Death Walks Behind You", "Dance of the Lemmings", "Aqualung", "Tago Mago", "Cold Blow & The Rainy Night", "Parcel of Rogues", "Brain Salad Surgery", "Machine Head", "Ride On", "Exodus", "London's Calling", "This Is The Ice Age", "Back In The DHSS", "Garbage", "Cammell Laird Social Club", "This Earthly Spell", "Oh My Darling", "Duckworth Lewis Method" and a lot of others.
Bridge Over Troubled Water, although not quite as good as a Trouble Over Bridgwater, is a fine record and I'm a great fan Paul Simon. Paul's greatest tracks are scattered over lots of his albums in my view. This is certainly an endearing album with some great moments.
Hunky Dory is another good album, though my favourite Bowie album has always been his debut. I mean the one on Deram called David Bowie not his very early sessions with the Mannish Boys and Lower Third. I also rate his second album Space Oddity quite highly. In fact I like most of his albums (probably would give Young Americans a miss). Would I have a Bowie album in my top 100? Don't know - seems there ought to be one in everybody's top 100, but .....
Sgt Pepper is probably my all time favourite Beatles album, but of course Rubber Soul, Revolver, Magical Mystery Tour, White Album and Abbey Road are all 5 star records as well. The other albums are not far behind either.
As I say - don't know the RW album.
I don't know the Pete Townshend/Ronnie Lane album either through I am big fan of Ronnie Lane and especially liked his work along Steve Marriot in the Small Faces.
Interested to see what your 100 are and how many Peter Hammill and Ozric Tentacles LPs you include or is it only one per artist allowed?
One thing is for sure there are lots of great records around ....
All the best, Guy

Ozric Tentacles - Jurassic Shift. There you go Guy bet you didn't expect to see these in a top 100 but this album is in my opinion their best. These albums are not in any order they are just what I consider my top 100. To place any of these in an order of 1 to 100 would be an impossible task for me to do. I suppose they are all number 1.
Guy if you have never heard Amused To Death - Roger Waters just buy it you won't be disappointed.
95 Steely Dan - Aja
Great choice at 96 - my favourite Ozrics elpee too.
I'll give the Roger Waters a go.

Agree about In The Flesh DVD
Diamond Dogs is also a favourite of mine. I think David Bowie has gone in so many different directions in his career that everybody has a different choice as his best. Bloody great artist though.
