Top 100

Posted by: floid on 19 November 2011

I think everybody has a list of 100 albums that you consider you're favourite's so here's a thread devoted to just that. Every album I put on here will be an album that I could not live without. They will be in no particular order but so we can follow it every album will have a number beside it. Comments would be good, maybe they are yours as well. Let's see how it goes.

This is a new album that should break into peoples top 100 in the next few years.

It might even end up as a CLASSIC IN TEN YEARS TIME..

Its all in the words.

As is normal with lists of peoples top 100's the albums chosen are normally albums that you have had for years and can over time give a more focused opinion on their merit.

But occasionally an album comes along that you just know you will be playing in years to come. An album like that was released this year and this is it. A stunning piece of work. 80   Steven Wilson - Grace For Drowning

Tumbleweed Connection would be my choice by Elton. My general feeling with him is everything past Blue Moves is downhill.

I don't really find any of Reg Dwight's albums consistently outstanding, but many of than have a handful of really good songs that makes them more than worth the entrance money, I guess that's why he is still standing and feeling better that he ever did rather than resting below an empty sky.

But nobody ever picks his first album

On which Sir Elton Hercules John played his own cover versions of

1. My Baby Loves Lovin'
2. Cotton Fields
3. Lady D'arbanville
4. I'm A Natural Sinner
5. United We Stand
6. Spirit In The Sky
7. Travellin' Band
8. I Can't Tell The Bottom From The Top
9. Good Morning Freedom
10. To Be Young And Gifted
11. In The Summertime
12. Up Around The Bend
13. Neanderthal Man
14. She Sold Me Music
15. Come And Get It
16. Love Of The Common People
17. Signed Sealed Delivered I'm Yours
18. It's All In The Game
19. Yellow River

I supposed it was his answer to Dylan's Self Portrait.

I'd have picked Madman for my EHJ album too, but Tumbleweed was pretty good.

All the best, Guy
