How to change album art on HDX?

Posted by: Brando on 20 November 2011

Hello,

I would like to know how can I change the album art on the HDX internal database? I have many music files stored on USB flash storage inserted in the device but most times the album cover doesn't show. I tried with coping album art in the folders where the songs are but that didn''t work... Maybe the file should be in some determined format or something should be done on a computer first before the songs are copied...

Is there a solution to this problem of mine?

Btw, I bought my iPad last week and the n-Serve app is just GREAT! When I was considering to buy the HDX two years ago the B&O Beosound 5 with similar screen and some kind of wheel which is used to control it was the alternative to HDX. But now, after all the improvements (the internet radio and the app) I wouldn't even consider B&O!!

Thanks!

For music not ripped by the hdx the album art can either be imbedded in the track, or for ease a jpg image can be put in the folder of tracks called "folder.jpg" without the quotes.

There is not point making the image to large 300x300 should suffice. Google is your friend here.

Thank you, Garyi!

I was experimenting a bit with the library and had some problems with your method...

First, when I copied the album art and renamed it like you said it didn't work. Than I started to change the album art on the songs from iTunes by adding the album art. I can notice the change on the files, it is no longer the simple file icon but the album art icon now.

On the HDX there is a change on the device screen which is great! But on the iPad app the album cover on the albums is still the same. Only when I click on the album the change appears and while playing the album, but when looking at all the albums there still old "naim" logo... That part is the most important because I like to look at the album cover while searching the albums.

Did anyone else had similar problem?

And what about changing the album art on the internal HDD music?

Brando something like this happens with my UnitiServe (music stored on the uServe internal hdd) and the n-Serve app on my iPhone and iPad. All of the data does not update immediately; sometimes I have to use the "Refresh Cache" feature in the n-Serve app to get the new album art to show up properly in the n-Serve app.

Hi Bart!

You were right. It works! I was thinking about that feature but didn't think that it exists on the app. Now it is just perfect!

Thank you both!

Now there is just one more thing... how to change the album art on internal HDD?

Only way is Naim Desktop Client for Windows, which comes with the device.

With the Naim Desktop Client (for Windows only . . . which is the only reason I even own a Windows laptop!) . . . you right-click on the album name and chose "Properties"  In the "Properties" window there is an opportunity to add album art.

I download the album art from either Amazon.com or just Google it, put it on my desktop, make the change in the Desktop Client, and then can delete the downloaded file.

If it does not show up right away in the iPhone/iPad app, refresh the cache.

Thank you both for the answer! I do have one windows lap top so I will make the changes. I am also a huge Mac fan.

The way Naim has entered the modern way of listening to music is GREAT! With this app I am spending more time listening to music with comodity of not leaving the chair and whole music library on you palm... Keep up the good work!

Feels good to finally have cover art on the HDX and Ipad. This forum is great.
